More ram = less render time?

I'm rendering everything on my 2.33ghz MBP with 2 gigs of ram. I think I can fit an extra 2 gigs in it. Would adding the ram significantly improve my render times?

THANKS

As far as I know RAM only helps to view footage. Processors are what make render times faster. I will break a timeline across a few computers and finish in less time, but that is not always an option.

I will tell you this... When I first got my new 8 core MacPro with the stock 2 GB of ram, it didn't seem any faster than my dual 1.8 GHz G5. When I added 4 more GB's of ram, the game totally changed. I've got 10 GB's of RAM in my MacPro and it could still use more to make it faster. Always with laptops put the max amount of RAM that will fit. I will be shocked if you don't see render times go down--because most programs need alot of ram to run full speed. In fact, I just checked at RedCine when it first starts up takes up 300 MB's of RAM without doing anything. Add rendering on that and RC will start sucking up RAM--which if you run out of RAM it'll start writing out pages to your very slow laptop hard drive.

Can anyone at RED or Alpha testers say if Red Alert is faster with Build 16

Well if you're doing multiple submissions using Redline more RAM will definitely help you. Each instance uses about 1.5GB of RAM...
