  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

More info...

The main thing our competition has over us is that we don't know what we are doing. That is going to change at some point... and that is when we become dangerous.

Jim

Ahahahah!

That is the funniest thing I've almost ever read. Can't wait till some competitor uses it out of contex. You crack me up.

Agree with you Stuart, it is a very strange idea. But, it's a strange company, in a positive way a lot of the time! Obviously the idea is that they are rmeianing loyal to the early reservation takers as they were the ones who had faith even in the early days when many saw RED as just a dream and thought those the mugs who were putting deposits down were never ever going to see a camera. Those "mugs" of course, now have their cameras!!!
3 month set-back after an already long wait is hard to bear though.
Steve

Here is my issue with the 'loyal to early reservation holders policy.' (I'm speaking of the ones who delayed shipment).
1. If you were an 'early RES holder' you have had over a year to get your finances in order so money should not be an issue.
2. Waiting for a stable build - Delaying due to build stability (although I sort of understand). However, we are still not completely bug free.
3. If you didn't have an issue with 1 and 2 above and just postponed or held out for something better possibly (NAB), that's not what I would consider 'Loyal Customers'.
Now, before everyone gets offended, I am not necessarily blaming you for the delay. You had your reasons and do not need to justify them to another over eager RES holder. All I'm saying is this policy of serving these LATE reservation holders first when other RES holders have their money in is a little backwards IMO.
Hmmm...I guess the moral of the story is you can't please everybody no matter how hard you try. I'll wait as patiently as possible until my RES comes up waiting with money in hand. Please beat the new schedule!

Ahahaha.... I love it.

Jim:

I am Japanese director cameraman buying American designed and made Red Camera.
My camera will be delayed. I'm in mid air jumping up and down waiting for Red to arrive in front of my studio. It's a cold day in Toronto Canada.

People passing by saying "Hmm. Nip in the air!"

Jim please put Red in my hand asap. Put me down to ground. I'm tired of jumping up and down waiting.

Shin,

If you need a little Red fix, you can come by. I'm in Toronto. PM me. I even have some pretty damn good varieties of Sake - if you're into Sake. As far as I'm concerned, every Saturday is Sake-night-in-Canada.

To all managers of RED
First, I thank all of you for the outstanding work you do, the business risks you take and the open level of communications you offer. But just because of this high respect and admiration I have I do not understand why the communications on the timing are so difficult.

I do not understand that when I send (inside the 30 days timeframe, I never asked for a delay) 45.000.-US$ to get the RED ONE with the basic accessories, and get the advise that the shipping will be done in 1 (ONE) week, how comes that 3 weeks later I got put on hold for a unknown (!!!) time.

I'm not wondering about the fact that a delay happened, newest high-tec products have this risk! I would have even understood if the price of the camera would have rose 10-20% meanwhile. (I mean with the horrible Dollar exchange rate this things can happen in a professional environment).

What I do not understand is the unknown time I will have to wait.

I respect very much that I got the offer to get back the money, this is the maximum of honesty a CEO can offer, BUT honestly with all sadness I have to say I do not care so much to get back the money for a coupe of days.

Or do we talk about a longer period of delay 1 week, 1 months, 3 months like I read somewhere? Or even more?

Dear RED management, I feel horrible to remind you that this business is not a fashion nor a toy business (even if we do behave in this forum sometimes like if it would be that) but a business-to-business industry, where we all have to "try" to give the best in our own scheduling.

I have full believe and somewhere also already the prove that everybody in RED INC is doing the best they can. So please just add to the miracles you do all the days this small and easy task: give us timing ranges for best and worst cases, please
Istvan
PS: Actually e-mail them to us....

We are working hard to reduced the delay. I would much rather spend our time doing that than keeping everyone posted on a day to day basis since it is changing as we solve problems. Give us a bit of time to sift through the rubble of the latest problem and see how quickly we can recover.

Thanks for your patience. Whenever your patience runs out, you can email Kelly with your phone number and I will personally call you.

Thank you, Jim and the Red Team. You have my full support.

Makes complete sense why NOT to post more estimated time schedules.

Class act as usual, Jim.

makes me think of a saying' "You can have it right, or you can have it now. Just not right now"
I'll wait till it's right. not much use to anyone if it isn't.
sitting on my hands....

Hey Jim, would you at least post roughly how many cameras which have been fully paid for and are waiting shipping? Also, if you don't want to waste time typing up a report each day just call me, tell me what's new in 20 seconds and I will transcribe for post here. Daily updates would really put most of us at ease.

Just how I am feeling.

Matthew

Thank You!!

Jim

The success of RED digital cinema "fragrance" titled "RED POISON"

spreading fast over the market that the competition launching

even a web video presentation to "educate" people and saying

that the CMOS is a wrong technology for digital cinema :) .

Another big brand also maker of cameras and lenses advertising

its own digital camera as a main anamorphic digital solution even

though they hardly made a single (valuable) anamorphic lens till today :) .

Call it something like a

PANIC IN DIGITAL PARK

or

FEAR OF RED.

WOOW thank you Jim you are so kind ..i will claim that i am out of patience

to got a chance talking to you ..:usd:

Bassam, might want to wait until we hear from some of those who get "THE CALL!".... could be he tells them "I am exercising my right to not sell a camera to anyone (the person he is calling) with a bad attitude!"

Sometimes it's best to not be first in line.:cold:
