Monstro is really THAT cool. Haven't had the "must have" feeling this strong since the launch of Dragon.

I will be blogging a bit about these days at the end of the day (here in China), but so far the only things we have done is in Chinese ;)

Pretty impressed with the presentations.

RED are here with a serious crew, Monster and Helium cameras
CWV has an impressive range of wireless solutions on show
Atomos has their full range of toys on-site
Ovide is showing their q-take solution
MOVCAM is out with a large crew
And I am here with the QuineBox™IoT demo

So far we have done Beijing and Shanghai. Today we are in Shenzhen in the MOVCAM offices.

I will have to leave after today, but the roadshow moves on to Taiwan/Taipei early next week.

CWV is also live-0streaming the events from a 5-camera RED live setup and there are several thousands following the live-stream every day.

RED seems to be the totally dominant Camera in China. Not only for the last huge box-office breaker but on all levels so the attention level is pretty high.

Infratrans (the distributor) is putting a lot of resources into this thing, and now on the third out of 4 shows, it has really become clear why.

Chinese box-office is approaching North-American numbers, and the whole industry is growing and maturing at an incredible pace.

The background that it basically has gone from nothing to something in a really short time, has allowed for a range of "new" companies taking the driver-seat on the equipment side.

Just watching the transformation of companies like Tilta, CWV, Vaxis and Movcam is amazing.

I was able to exhibit the QuineBox™IoT for the first time at BIRtv earlier in August - just fresh out of the oven, and even though that is still the case that you have a lot of cheap knock-off companies here, there are also an amazing number of innovative original ideas with high build-quality coming out of the manufacturers here alongside the traditional players.

To me Chinese movies has by far been represented by the likes (if there really any) of Ang Lee, but after spending a bit of time here the last three years, it is apparent that while this is very much an industry in the making, the ambition and hard working talent of Chinese movie industry, probably will end up impacting the industry in more ways than cheap matte boxes and Chinese rocket-scientists solving the final problem in "Martian".
