  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Monochrome Raven?

I could definitely see myself with a monochrome raven. I love the idea.

Ravens (the bird) are monochrome. Coincidence? I THINK NOT.

Hoping it's Raven variety monochrome. but if you look at the mount, it doesn't appear to be fixed. That could suggest weapon. Maybe there will be more than one flavor
 
Looks like a Scarlet-W Monochrome is in our future. But hopefully a Raven too!!!
 
monochrome is cool, def something id be able to think about at raven prices, maybe even scarlet w prices but either of those seems much more likely for me to buy vs an expensive monochrome camera id guess at MG/CF/8k price points... its super cool its just not a niche i think i could get a return in, personally speaking...but for fun its super cool artistically i think

hmm, I don't think I would buy a 5K monochrome Scarlet-W.

And I doubt any houses in the SF bay area would get one to rent out.

And at that cost, schools won't bother either (unless 100% donated).


At suspected Scarlet-W price points, I'm inclined to think it doesn't make sense in terms of market penetration or expansion.
RED would most likely sell the same number of units at full weapon price points.


I'm still hoping for a monochrome raven,
but the latest Book of Faces teases make me suspect it ain't gonna happen


A real shame if it doesn't...
super clean 4K B&W at an incredible price point using EF AF motors for focus work and control via fool control.


I totally see a B&W raven becoming an instant indie icon and reinvigorating the B&W scene - no more "desaturated" art films!
Hell, I could see it being used by a lot of college/trade-school cinema departments!

The ultimate college gateway drug into the RED eco system!

Film/Cinema Production Studies often start w/ B&W... 16mm film usually.
But those cameras are falling apart and film is scarce...
AND i know schools(a couple first hand) want to go all digital but want to keep their established curriculum mostly in tack and understand the importance of teaching Black and White

Sooo... BOOM mono Red Raven - The new Bolex!

Think about it it, future cinematographers and filmmakers will become familiar with RED tech, latitude, and detail in B&W now!

In four years from now and after the next sensor is out, they will be able to jump into it hard w/ a mindset totally geared up for maximizing future red tech

offer schools special bundle prices that include both B&W and Color Ravens.

I'm getting off point here,
but I want to point out that one "weapon" against the establishment (Arri) is by educating and familiarizing the next generation not even yet on the map yet (the up and comers making the effort to go to school for it).
