  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Mono Dragon R3D's First Look

Zeb, are these pretty much straight out of camera or have you done some work to them? They look great!

Brought them through my standard LightRoom stills treatment - will do full PhotoShop work-over when I get ready to seriously print the pigs. Seeing lots of noise in the motion clips. Going to do another BS and do some testing. Also some stray hot pixel looking things when zoomed in. Curious.

Nice pics Zeb. I like the atmosphere in the mountain top shots and the details in the bleachers.

Crazy amount of detail in that fire-truck shot too -

Interesting that you mention making prints from your pics. I'm getting the impression Dragon Mono output really needs to be seen via large high quality prints or projected on a cinema screen to be fully appreciated.

BTW, noticed some weirdness too when pixel peeping, not sure what to make of it.

The illusion of depth in the monochrome images is jaw dropping.

How cool would it be to see a new genre burst forth of high resolution, high fidelity monochrome cinema. There are many filmmakers who are repelled by the idea of a more "photorealistic rendering" of cinematic stories using Epics & 4K DCPs. Once you take out the color, you immediately have an "altered reality" storytelling space. By shooting with extreme tonal, focus and contrast control one should be able to push that "atmosphere" into some very interesting places.

Thanx Red Team & Happy Birthday to the Fire Chief

Cheers - #19
