  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Monkey Extract - new version, new Final Cut workflow

Nigel, thanks a lot for for listening.....

as our projects here will be mostly graded on baselight and autoconformed on it, it is a perfect to have all the dpxs in the folders per roll. one more thing....
it seems that the baselight has problems to catch up the roll id in the dpx header. I am using Imagemagick and wanted to ask you if it will be possible to build a function in monkey which changes the roll id in the dpx header to match the edl? so after exporting the dpxs a script is changing all the headers of the files for example with imagemagick ????

thx
rainer

Hi Rainer,

What specific problems are you having with Baselight's support for tape name in the DPX header?

Hey Martin!

I think it is more a matter of consistency in the fact that tracking can be done via the long file names, the shortened 8, and then just the 4. If Monkey could support all formats of the fikename as source going into the application, it would be nice to have the header match the same name as well as allow the naming of he directory be the same as well.

this weekend, i am shooting a live sports event. next monday, i am going to have to get my selects from .r3d into an avid. i am about to dive into the step-by-step .pdf posted on www.avid.com/red. is this the most efficient route to get my job processed and delivered fast. i have processed much .r3d into prores but this will be my first time going to avid. i have to process about 30mins of footage starting on monday, and the client wants to go to air with it 7 days later.

i guess my question is....should i go by whatever i am about to read in the step-by-step, or is there some words of wisdom any of you could impart on me regarding my needs for this job. thanks......

Hi Martin !

We tested a short sequence, edited in FCP and rendered it out. At the Autoconform we saw, that it seems, only the timecode will match up. We gave it with monkey not a new try at the moment, because I am on production. When I am back at the beginning of November, after that I can start some intensive testing. To have all dpxs sorted in the reel folders helps a lot I think. Did you test a Redrushes - Prores Offline - FCP - Monkey - Baselight Workflow?

thx
Rainer
