Has anyone used the new Mole LED fresnels? I can't seem to find any reviews anywhere, probably because they were just released. http://mole.com/lighting/led/mole_led.html

I've stayed far away from LEDs, but these look to be the real deal, and are actually kind of affordable.

According to the performance data, I've come to the conclusion that the 150 fresnel should be slightly more powerful than an Arri 650 Plus, the 200 should be close to a 1K fresnel, and the 400 could replace a 2K. Prices don't seem too high, especially for a brand new housing, lens, LED tech, and the long life of the LEDs.

So, any reviews yet?

Nice find. The website has broken links so I can't gather too much info, but its intriguing. I wonder how these might compare with a set of Nila lights. Trying to make a choice in the next 3-6 months. I like the idea of the Nila because I can power it from a V-mount battery. I mean, after all the LED requires DC power, why provide it solely with AC?

I just can't bring myself to buy that Chinese eBay crap.

I would buy Coollights (coollights.biz), but all that other stuff, I don't think so.

The Mole Quantum Dot LEDs are very impressive. Excellent color and power efficiency. That said, the Nila lights are terrific as well and they are very, very different fixtures. The Mole lights are fresnels. They sacrifice output for control-ability. The Nila lights are arrays. They sacrifice control-ability for output. Nilas offer the most punch per watt. Mole fresnels offer beam control. They complement one another quite well.

That Chinese light is a hunk of crap. It is not even a fresnel, just inside a fresnel-like housing. Looks like a basic variable PAR. I bet it is poorly contstructed and has very low color quality. I don't have an issue with cheap equipment per se. There is always a place for different tools in the market. But when it is misrepresented so clearly as it is in this case I begin to wonder about all its other aspects. I would stay far, far away.

Hi Mitch, I saw your video about these at NAB. If you have these on hand, maybe you could do an in-depth video, comparing these with the most popular tungsten fresnels and HMIs. That would be awesome. :)

Don't have any on hand at the moment, but it does sound like a good idea I'll keep in mind.

Great find indeed!

Nila's punch is so tempting, but is there any way around using them as a hard source? I have seen them bounced a bunch of times, and inside soft boxes. I haven't investigated much, but was wondering if you guys have used them as a hard source of have heard of ways of doing so and avoid their crazy shadows
