Jim and gang,
I am a new convert to the Red and a long standing ASC member. As I have been using Panavision for a long time I understand their approach. They have become corporate and have a Sony camera that in the real world (like the Sony F35) would cost 250,000 dollars. You have build an upgradable camera that delivers and excites and costs ten percent.
This is a good thing and will make every manufacturer work harder.>>

At the time my friends at Panavision misunderstood what I was saying and were very upset.

I now understand that Panavision's new Digital Cinema Camera will be modular, upgradable, and price competitive with Alexa and RED.....

Jim, you were the visionary......

Merci

How bout them apples.

Funny thing is, these other companies are just now at the camera stage, where RED has been since the R-1 came out. And, maybe as big companies are wont to do, they may rest on that accomplishment thinking they have "caught up".:ciappa::smilielol5::smilielol5::smilielol5:

..which IMHO is pretty huge, considering Panavision has never sold cameras during its long history. Personally, I can't wait..

(and not because I'd buy their camera, I rent and have no interest in owning equiment other than my light meter)

Any more concrete details?

Thanks for the update!

One way to stay ahead of the pack: upgradeability to a FF35 sensor... C'mon, Jim!

I agree!

I hope Dragon means FF35. Upgrading the EPIC-X (M) to FF35 would be absolutely great!

Well said Peter...

Times have changed for the better!
