And this is asked out of curiosity, and no pressure, or negativity is meant :)

Jarrod posted some time ago:

NOTE: Upgrades available for select monitoring options and modules. i.e 1x Base I/O Module can be upgraded to PRO I/O Module by paying price difference. Details as we get closer.

Did I miss any announcements/clarifications since then?

I would love the Redmote Pro, and a possible Pro-IO module but since my X will be shipping soon, and there have not been any clarifications or updates on shipping of the upgrades... Is this on hold for now?

Again, if the info is available and it is something I missed, I would like to be pointed to the thread. If I am jumping ahead of the Nov 3rd announcements, I apologize :)

You haven't missed anything, and this has not been clarified. But the Base I/O module has been scrapped, so there is no upgrade to be made. Unfortunately, the I/O is not part of the package anyway. Instead, we will get the titanium PL mount as stock with the Epic-X kit, so another upgrade choice has also been made for you.

I think the way this is going to play out for many or most Stage 2 and Stage 3 kit buyers is that either the alternative modules are no longer planned or won't be released at the time that Stage 2/3 kits are ready for delivery. So you will have to decide to accept the kit as is, or not be able to make the thirty-day notification deadline for package purchase.

It is also possible that RED will allow you to delay delivery of some of the accessories if alternatives will become available in the near future. On the other hand, that will leave you without, for example, a 5" Touch LCD, while you wait for an upgraded 9" LCD or without a Redmote, while you wait for a RedmotePro (and the vibe I'm getting from the months-long silence on the RedmotePro is that it is going to be a long wait.)

So, in the end, you will probably wind up getting both because you can't wait for the functionality of the bigger or better accessory. Then, when you finally get the bigger/better unit, maybe you can sell the lesser unit used on RedUser.

Thank you :)

I already have the SmallHD 8.7", so larger than the included LCD is not required. I almost wish the smaller LCD was made as making an adapter for the Zacuto Z-Finder was an interesting EVF option :)

RedMote.... The Pro seems like the way to go, but being the base one included is "Only" $500, might as well take delivery, then, as you say, sell it off and buy the Pro when shipping/offered if that is the way it plays out.

I would LOVE to be able to trade the Pl for the Canon though... :) $2000 is almost half-way to getting the Clutch!!!! (For those of us on a finite budget that is)

As always, thank you for the update!!

My only interest in the 9" Touch LCD centers around how well touch-focus works. I would imagine that however well touch-focus works on the 5" LCD, it will probably work more accurately or with better control on the 9". And, if it is well implemented, could be very useful. Otherwise, I'm with you on a third-party on-board LCD taking HDSDI/HDMI.

And maybe a RedUser who takes delivery on the Canon mount will reconsider the PL mount when someone comes along and offers to rent his package but insists on shooting on Zeiss glass. It could happen!

True Bill.....

I know I need both PL & Canon, and even if reasonable, the Nikon FD!! I already have some FD glass, and would be nice to have a solid, non adapted mount for them :)

But having the PL so easily on/off makes "Needing" a piece of PL glass in my kit a requirement :)

The Base I/O was removed from the Stge 2 and 3 packages. Begins shipping January. No info on the specs. AFAIK.
