  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Module Ship Dates....

Need... quad..charger... NOW!

Anyway, a big thanks for the update!

I keep hearing/reading this - I thought RED ONE accessories worked on EPIC?

Does the EPIC quickplate need an adapter? or the RED ONE if you want to use it?

What is this adapter? Who sells it? Pics?

thanks Joseph

Due to the EPIC's extremely small form factor, RED needed to find ways of getting the I/O's with a smaller footprint. One of the ways in which they did so, was going with a slightly smaller power input than the RED One. The RED One and the current power accessories are "2B" by default, while the EPIC's default is "1B". To have a workaround, you need to have a 2B to 1B adapter...

RED has a newer version of their v-mount battery plate with the EPIC connector on it -- it's part of the backpack quickplate. Hopefully they will make this available separate of that expensive backpack piece. RED used to sell, like up until just a week or two back, the bare v-mount battery plate with RED One connector for $175. That has disappeared from the store for some strange reason. I'm hoping it returns and it brings the EPIC version along with it...

Ok, makes sense, thanks Joseph.

@ jeff- that also makes sense, I trust they have figured this out. Thanks man

Jeff, what did you attach that bare plate to? The old Quickplate is essentially that piece plus a mounting bracket, which still works today. Yes you have to use an adapter cable, but not the end of the world.

I think the backpack solution is really elegant, super slim form factor, and about as good as it gets as far as being able to mount a v-mount battery directly to the camera. The only negative is the price involved, but remember that the backpack is then usable for other things... it's not just the battery plate.

Personally, I think REDVOLTS are the way to go with Epic and once the battery modules start shipping this will be much less of a concern, though I realize people may have a large stock of bricks that they still want to use. At least RED has provided options for that.

nice jarred...thanks for the update, always welcome.
hard work ha?
cheers

Thank you for the update. It's extremely helpful with scheduling. Please, please, please make a ton of those quad chargers! EVERYONE is going to want those immediately ;) !

Back to topic, Great to see things are moving faster and faster now!
Sure every one at red is in there battle stages making it all happen.
I love the new "it's ready when it's ready"

Jeff, what did you attach that bare plate to?

I'm not Jeff, but I can tell you how I use the Red Battery Plate. I'm pretty sure Jeff does too.

Element Technica Aluminum Battery Interface:

I use mine with an ET SpeedyClamp.

I plan to switch exclusively to REDVolts once the Quad Charger and Module are available.

That reminds me... How about an shipping date for the REDVolt XL batteries?

Future Scarlet owners, I understand the passion/frustration you guys are having, but imagine the following: A thread about the Scarlet, and everyone chimes in asking about Epic-X module delivery dates. Wouldn't be fun, now, would it.

So please, do stay on topic. This thread is about module ship dates.

Thank ye.

Im convinced that some people have change-spiders constantly crawling the RED.com store..

Now there's an idea. Jarred, you're a lucky businessman to have a product in such demand that customers would resort to such tactics to get it!

Mike

I'm more concerned about the Pro REDMOTE. It is my understanding that that's the only real way us Canon users will be able to effectively control our lenses.

Any word when that will ship?

Stephen

By the way, What are the prices of the

Pro I/O
&
9" LCD

Thank you for the timeline, Jarred. And a big yeee- ha! about Nikon for Christmas!
