  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Modular Dragon OLPF sneak peak

Truth of the matter is, RED is already one of the easiest (simple) cameras to operate. ETTR, RedLog Film in post, curve... export!

especially Dragon with redlogfilm is the deal - a light curve and done, ... never had this with any other digital camera

i will export 2morrow some of my stuff last night, pretty cool colors and dynamic -

Lets be realistic instead of evangelistic. "Simple" and "RED" dont go hand in hand. We are asked to jump through more hoops than ever with Dragon.

I stand by my statement. Perhaps you are CHOOSING to jump through hoops. I've found if you open your mind to the possibilities, shooting Dragon doesn't have to be difficult.

EDIT: Change CHOOSING to "the expectation of" and perhaps that explains it better.

.

You want me to open my mind? Like open my wallet to buy OLPFs? Then the simple process of learning them and dealing with installing them during a production and then using bespoke post software to get what we need from them? That is only one piece of the new "simplicity" brought to the workflow recently.

It takes time to design with a clean workflow in mind I guess.

Bohdan, don't take this as some sort of passive/aggressive thing on my part, but all I ever see from your posts is griping and complaining. I just don't see any value in continuing to read what you have to say, so I'm putting you on my ignore list. Good day.

That is a shame - These are serious issues being discussed over the last couple months which have many long time respected members discussing it quite civilly.

You`d need to ignore a big bunch of respected regular contributors to not hear the exact same points I raise.

I agree, simplistic is not good, but needfully simple is.

Blair, it might take heaps of maths to accommodate a Olpf, but you could make a system that incorporates the maths once that takes data on the olpf in place to make adjustments.

posted this in the other thread too

yesterday, Strasbourg, France ... 9pm,port du rhin

... new OLF, its´100% clean, ... when you have the redlogfilm as base, it´s like a HDR image without HDR, ... this camera is stunning ...

i will post better images and bigger and for sure some R3D later next week, ... this one here is no ADD, no DEB, ...

Nice image Jan, The halflight time is nice with Dragon.

Filtration?

nothing

just filled the histogram - think it was a f4 or f5.6 here. but the RAW is incredible clean- as said i had much more into the night ... next days ... i never had so much joy shooting digital as with this camera ... resolution and DR for the luxury side of life ... and, as said so many time from a lot of people - the colors are state of art -

I'm going to take a little night walk around Florence in the next couple of days. You've inspired me to get out and do my night tests. :)

Davide, perhaps I could visit as well? Florence is one of my absolute favorite places. The artistic energy is almost tangible.

Ciao - #19

I live here. When a reduser is passing through I'm always up for some Face to Face time.

Super happy with our Dragon and it's image quality, noise floor, highlight roll off, and skin tones.

Our clients are as well. The chatter here we find is much exaggerated. If you have professionals and professional tools, you get great results.

It matters how easy it is to obtain those results.
