Mobile Rocket Options?

Mobile rocket raid

Mobile rocket raid

Maxx Digital's Mobile Rocket was tested and used by Deanan and the guys on RED Team. Istorage's box does not bear the RED ROCKET logo nor the level of support we have been fortunate to build within RED. We also sell the RED ROCKET installed in both the Mobile Rocket and the Mobile Rocket Raid. You can check with Sean, Johnathan or any of the Bomb Squad our reputation stands. We wish Peter luck with his design as there is plenty of business to go around. We also have a battery powered version but are dealing with extra heat issues. Stay tuned for up dates. Also Steve Freebairn free Hill Prod., Julian Baños Filma RED, Ketch Rossi Ketch frame, Von Thomas RED Trainer have all successfully used our product in real world situations. We are sorry for the back order but it is temporary. Thank you for your support.

Service, service, service

Service, service, service

I purchased the Mobile Rocket Raid from Maxx for a TV Series shooting all throughout central Mexico. The editing has to be done one day after shooting on location. Post production has only 9 days to work a 1 hour episode so it airs on time.
We are shooting with 3 MX Reds and sometimes 4. There are 2 units and sometimes 3. This is a costume drama with a lot of difficulties for production.
On top of that this a production by a TV Channel owned by the government, so we do not have all the budget we need.

In a nutshell, there is no room for mistakes due to time and budget. Everything has a backup plan.

This is the situation where service is most valued.

Maxx had the Mobile Rocket Raid testing for 72 hours without stopping. Ron personally took a flight to Mexico to deliver the chassis and made sure that it was working properly. And he is guaranteeing his products in such a way that only reminds me of a family doctor.

Sure you can save a few bucks purchasing online with the cheapest vendor. But do you want to this is with high end equipment? I think this is the kind of items that I want to have real backup by a well stablished company that care enough about their customers to do what Ron did for me. My career is on the line on this job, plain and simple. Knowing that the people at Maxx have my back makes feel much better.

MOBILE ROCKET will ship again soon

MOBILE ROCKET will ship again soon

We did experience a gap from a cable vendor who shut down temporarily but we are taking orders and planning to ship very soon. We do not like back orders any more than our customers do but it happens. Thank you all for your continued support and patients.

Just got my Mobile Rocket (bought it used from a Reduser) and can't wait to try it...

So I gave it a try last night, and debayered a 1 minute clip (4K R3D to 2K QT444) with my MBpro 17" (2,4Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo + 4Gb Ram)...

-With Red Rocket (Mobile Rocket) ON = 3m22s
-With Red Rocket (Mobile Rocket) OFF* = 2m48s
-Without Red Rocket (Mobile Rocket) = 45m+

Awesome! Basically, an hour of conversion would be around 3 hours of percolating instead of around 2 days! Yay! :hurray:

* Funny thing happened though, when I wanted to run the test without the Rocket, I just switched the Mobile Rocket off (instead of removing it completely), and I got a faster result than when it was switched on??? Weird! Maybe it uses the power of the MB and still deliver the performance of the RR card? Anyone can comment on this?

In any case, it's an amazing improvement on performances (around 15x faster)...

Sure will be awesome for those 48hr film contests! No fear of using the Red One for those quick jobs anymore...

That doesn't sound right.

I wonder if there is some kind of persistent cache somewhere, because you had run it once with the Rocket. The Rocket card needs quite a lot of power, so I doubt very much it could draw that from the MBP. Can you try repeating the test with a clean start and a clip you have not previously transcoded using the Rocket?

Are you guys getting closer to being caught up on orders?

Hey Julian, That's great to hear it's working so well for you and that Maxx backed you up so completely. Ron and Maxx seem like some stand up cats. Are you running three (or four) MXs off the one laptop and mobile raid?

Also, what configuration are you working with? Which MBP? What PCIe cards are you using and what's your workflow? Are you going straight to the internal RAID and then offloading to drives via eSata or are you offloading directly to eSata drives, etc...?

Anything else an owner/potential buyer should be aware of?

Thanks
