Hey guys, got a problem. I'm using a Mobile Rocket connected to a 17' MBP. Latest rocket drivers, latest version of RCX Pro.

Thing is, this setup has Redcine-X crashing all the time. When I restart, I often get just a black screen when selecting a clip and I have to reinstall the driver, restart the computer before it works again. And crashes again. Really frustrating, don't get much work done this way. Anybody have any idea what I could try? Here's a rundown on the hardware:

- Macbook Pro 17', 2.2 GHz i7. 8 Gigs of RAM, SSD boot drive, 2nd internal drive
- Mobile Rocket, connected to the express34 slot
- monitoring on a Sony PVM-2541, SDI
- RED station, SSD- and CF-Reader, connected through a Sonnet Echo via Thunderbolt
- Promise Pegasus RAID R6, connected through Thunderbolt
- some additional drives via FW800

Thanks...

I am having an identical issue but too busy to deal with support on it, right now.

I am finding that if I queue up more than sixty or so clips to transcode, it causes these issues. If I keep the queue small, they don't rear up.

So that is what I'm doing for now...keeping file sizes extremely small. Far from a permanent solution, but it's allowing me to get the work done right now....

Hm, interesting - not seeing this on my side - lots of clips don't affect my system as far as I can tell. What it doesn't like at all is copying media at the same time I'm transcoding - somehow, whenever a card has finished copying, things freeze up. When I do the transcode during the night and just let the computer be, I have no issues. Working simultaneously - no go. Really sucks...

I'm also getting the screen of death quite often with the Mobile Rocket. Restarting quite often lately. Don't like this. At all..

Sorry to hear about this. It sounds like this could be a bad mobile Rocket. Can you send me the OS X crash report after it kernel panics? (rob at red)

Ok, I think you were right Meyrem - less clips = better performance. But still - crashes all the time...

hi my red rocket mobile raid is also going through the blues. It's currently making a loud beeping noise. Does this mean the raid 5 drives are having problems? I can still see the drives and see my data.
Help please! thanks

This sounds like a completely different issue you should probably put it in it's own thread, also the Red Rocket cannot.. "beep" that I know of, so it's probably the drives or the raid box itself.

Hey guys, I was having a similar issue yesterday with my Rocket. I have a macpro, so it's internal, but when I loaded RCX it would crash on launch, every time. Yet the day before, it was perfectly fine. I did some poking around and figured out that if I delete the com. pref files that it reset RCX and my crashes stopped! I'm not sure if this will work for you guys but I still wanted to share my experience.

Here are the files I deleted to fix the issue:
