Designed from the ground up specifically for the Red Rocket card, check out the first look at the mLink R from mLOGIC. We got a chance to meet up with mLogic's CEO Roger Mabon and VP of Product Development Jean-Pierre Durand. If you want to pre-order this bad boy, check out the link to lock down the special introductory price of $699 until May 14th 2012: http://www.mlogic.com/mlinkR/preorder

I was reading this, I think originally on Magma site:
"There is an interoperability issue with MacOS using graphics (GPU) cards externally through Thunderbolt. Unfortunately, external graphics solutions for MacOS X do not work and we do not expect a resolution from Apple in the short term".
I'm new to PCI and Thunderbolt buses/connections.

-Mlogic+Redrocket+latest Macbook17''
-Redrocket+2009 4 core Macpro

Anybody can tell me how would be different the performance of a Redrocket in those 2 options (% slower)?
Thanks

Exactly what I've been looking for. Reserved.

Alvise, I did also read on the Magma site about the lack of support for external graphics cards via Thunderbolt on Mac. I'm assuming that this is not an issue, as at this time, the internal/onboard graphics card on a MacBook will still be the primary graphics card, with the external Rocket via mLINK R (via TB) being utilised for its GPU processing (and HD-SDI out), in whatever application supports that. RCX as per the video is a great start.

I need a couple of those T-Tap things yesterday.

Are there any specs on Transcode rates with this Solution? Will the MLink-R be able to Transcode 4K material at full debayer as similar rates as when in a Mac Pro Tower?

Thunderbolt + Red Rocket

Thunderbolt + Red Rocket

Short Answer for transcoding 4kHD 8:1 to ProResHQ422 1080p, over any x8 lane pci-e thunderbolt expansion with a Red Rocket.
Macbook Pro 17" = 30 fps, uses half system resources
Macbook Air 13" = 18 fps, uses all system resources

For comparison an 8 core Mac Tower = 30 fps, uses half system resources (internal pci-e x8 lane slot). In the case of the Mac Tower and Macbook Pro 17", the limiting factor is the Red Rocket card itself. Next up is dual Red Rocket cards in the thunderbolt pci-e case.
