Hey guys,

I know this question has been asked before, heck I even have the thread in my hot little hands, but I'm just wondering a few more things before I go out find out things the hard way.

So I'm working on a shoot where we plan to shoot with both the EX-1 and the RED. I'm working on finding a good way to make those two formats play nice in the edit. From my understanding so far, the proxy files and the EX-1 files will be different formats no matter what and I'm going to have to do some rendering to get them in the same timeline. Is this correct? Any way around rendering?

Another thing I'm wondering is how do I solve the 2k vs. 1080p issue. The 2k frame is just slightly larger than the EX-1, do I have an option somewhere in red alert! to output to 1080? I would check myself, but red alert doesn't seem to like my power pc G5.

Any help you guys could send my way would be great. By the way...also cutting on the avid if that changes anything...

Really depends what the final output is. If it's 1080p I'd just edit with the M proxies and the native XDCAM EX footage. It would help a *LOT* if you had a Kona card to accelerate everything on one timeline. Also an 8-core with 3+ GB RAM and a fast RAID is pretty much key. Try to edit this on say a MacBook Pro over Firewire and you'll be watching everything frame by frame with the arrow keys.
