  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Missing from IBC - Meizler Module

Jarred had posted somewhere that they were redesigning it, so the image up doesn't represent what it will look like now.
 
maybe I should clarify.

I'm not there, for all I know the floor is dripping in Meizlers, it's just that there haven't been any Meizler news in Recon threads.

Preston are backordered by about 7 months so it is going to take some time to get a complete kit together if/when details are ever announced.

Was the Meizler Module the only way to record prores out of a RED? If so, I wonder if that will change in the future.
 
RED has also put a lot of work into including good metadata in the SDI HANC, so a variety of third-party outboard recorders like the AJA Ki Pro/Ki Pro mini do a solid job recording proxies from the RED cam with accurate timecode, file names, and starts + stops. The market is overrun with outboard recorders now so Atomos et al might work for you as well.
 
No news on it other than it's still in "redesign" stage.

I've seen the Meizler seemingly all ready to go at RED Germany this year and it was performing great to my knowledge.
I'm sure the reason it's not here yet is only "to get it right". Be it to make it more modular or to get some technical issues sorted out or improved.

All eyes are on Dragon, especially since NAB this year. So it has to come first. As soon (if not already) as the Dragon is going out by the numbers, the wizards chained to RED mountain will surely continue working on it.

... and on all that we heard about before and haven't seen in the last couple of months. Be patient. RED will deliver. It will be awesome, I'm sure. Just start saving your money so you're ready to go ;) hehehe
