Anyone else find the 2/3" prime lineup a little less than inspiring? Specifically at the long end, T2.9 and T4 for primes is a little less than I think many will expect these days.

With these specs, the Canon HJ11 still looks like the best lens for the 2/3" Scarlet.

(A 4mm would be great, too, but the S35 set also has no real wide angles).

This is what I would love to see - minimum T2 across the board, and a 4mm wide end.

Just throwing it out there. I've been very impressed by literally everything else in the last couple announcements. I can't wait to shoot these new cams.

I don't think it is fair to say they are less than inspiring when we haven't seen the prices for them yet. We may be surprised. price:performance ratio should always be a factor to consider when making a judgement about these things.

dtto..

Ouch! That's like a $20K lens! And it shows up in their broadcast series which means it might be set up for a prismatic 3ccd configuration.
It doesn't make sense to invest that much in glass that will be useless if you step up to a larger FF orS35 sized sensor. A 4/3 sensor would have made so much more sense..(OOPs there i go again..):bleh:

I for one am not spending anything near 20k for my scarlet lenses even if they are amazing. It's just not in my Budget. That's why I'm so excited to see the prices on the primes ( though I'm planning on getting the s35 primes. I have a feeling they'll be very well recieved.

It's one of the really interesting things with Scarlet I think - the fact that high-quality 2/3" lenses can set you back as much and more than S35mm cine lenses. Levels the playing field to a certain degree.

How does that level the playing field? If you can't afford quality S35 glass, you won't be able to afford quality 2/3" glass...

My guess is we wont see these for sale (except maybe to some beta testers) any point in 2009.
