So I just bought a 550D for really cheap of ebay just to muck about with until we see a Scarlet release. I was thinking about buying some nice lenses for it with the thought that they would be an investment for my Scarlet when it comes out (locking me into the s35 or FF35).
The thing is I really like the look of the 2/3 cinema Scarlet, the fact it will do 120fps and the fact it is cheaper! But despite how cool the mini-primes look, I am a little concerned and would love some other opinions.
Do they not seem a little awkward? I mean I love the small size, they look really cool. But imagine the camera with Mini-Primes rigged up with a follow focus and a matte box. The actual size of the lens is so small, wouldn't it be really difficult to fit a follow focus in there? And combine that with a matte box reading measurements off the lens is going to be tricky...
And yes, I know the Redmote Pro has a wireless follow focus feature and this is also really cool. But it would also be nice to do it old way too. I mean why else put pitched gears on the barrel?
I'm not being negative here, I'd really love to buy a kit of lenses and have a sweet 2/3 cinema setup, I'd just like to hear some other peoples views on this. Cheers guys!
