Never say never. You can say EXTREMELY UNLIKELY. But don't say NEVER.

99,9% sure the HDMI will never go 4K. Otherwise it would've been implemented already, especially on a high end model like the Weapon.

I'm 100% sure you are making an assumption.

The "high end model like the Weapon" has ZERO video I/O (except two RED LCD/EVF connections) without using ... a module.

It does not take a rocket scientist to understand that if the camera has a module that can output realtime, processed 4K - like the REDCAST module for EPIC - it COULD 100% output a 4K HDMI signal.

So ... it's clearly possible in a module that has the firepower to output realtime, processed 4K. And RED has already done that for the EPIC - so ... I think one can connect the dots with some basic logic that we just might see a 4K realtime module for Weapon, right?

Now, I have ZERO knowledge is RED will ever have a 4K HDMI out - and I personally could care less if they ever do it - as I said, there are more exciting things I hope to see for broadcast and 4K live production.

But I just wanted to point out that "otherwise it would've been implemented already" is a highly flawed assumption.

Yeah, and they drop prices, run a trade-in-program and don't stop to extend the line in both directions, cheaper and bigger/faster, even sometimes making some of their stocked up REDMAGs more or less obsolete. All that just for fun.

It's too easy to say REDMAGs are only there to make a big profit. RED is really fair with their proprietary media.

100% Agreed!! Don't have a bit of problem with this REDMAG SSD path.

thanks for pointing this out. I am going to hold off the mag minis and wait for RED to come out with a comparable media to the current market. Perhaps it's time for them to allow 3rd market
