  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Might you have a connection on the Hobbit?

Yup. The LOTR is/are my favorite movies. Put that with 3D EPIC's, and the chance to be immersed for 18 months of intense work, I would pay a great reward to be involved.

Shooting behind the scenes with a Scarlet would be my dream job. Of course, I'm not gonna be picky and say that that's the only job I'd do. hehe I have a servant's heart and would be happy to do pretty much anything and would give it my all. ;)

Absolutely. I'm a big fan of the trilogy as well obviously. And Scarlet would be an incredible BTS camera for it.

If you get a chance, you should check out the book There and Back Again. It's by Sean Astin and although it talks about his acting history as well, it has some interesting inside looks into the behind the scenes of the movies from an actor's POV.

Agreed, what a great story! Thank you for sharing Liam!

Likewise, a great tale Liam.....Inspiration for Joseph if he can get into NZ, but as you say, some famous film people in the US too....

I'm all for taking a chance and saying go for it but the visa issue will make it almost impossible to do so. Use the money to make a short. The US makes it extremely hard for anyone to work here so other countries reciprocate by doing the same. Plus I'm all for giving the opportunity to New Zealanders as they don't have nearly as many opportunities as people in the US.

I've actually found New Zealand to be actually quite kind to US citizens. Work visas can be processed for free as opposed to $250 if you do it here in the US.

Also, though it hasn't anything to do with immigration laws, I do want to say I am quite impressed with the hospitality that a number of Kiwi have offered me. Many of you have let me know that your home was open to me if I were to make the trek to New Zealand in the near future. Thanks guys for being so hospitable...

Never too late Joseph,

..and as I told you before and you know this well already "Chances are that if you
ask some one listening could say yes, if you don't ask no one will ever say yes"

As we discussed other times, if and when in Wellington later this year, I can, I will have you there as guest at
our place, and even so it will be a Business trip, we are confident that a nice visit to the Hobbits will be made ;)

You're the best, Ketch. We seem to have a lot of the same outlook on life. We are like 2 peas in a pod; like 2 humps in a camel; we always sway the same way. Ha! That was a pretty good one. :D

I was doing a live broadcast for news outside Park Road Post ( Jackson's post production facility) last week.
Peter Jackson is still recovering from his surgery.
Cameras are expected to roll near the end of March.

That's a little later than I was hoping, but if they can meet that date then I'll be thrilled. It really just seems to be one thing or another with this film.

Joseph, are you thinking about moving to NZ permanently?

As it happens we're going through the whole points-based visa system now. We have an extra leg-up, as we have close family in NZ - but we're still 5 points short of what we would need to get an immigrant visa. The bottom line is, the way things are currently set up, you need a job offer first. Without that, you're going to find it tough.

It is rumoured that it's sometimes possible to find someone to give you a 'job' which isn't exactly a real job, if you take my meaning - just to get into the country...

Mike
