Hello everybody!
I have a project coming up that will require the acquisition, storage and offline editing of .r3d files in a 'remote' location (basically away from my desktop and internet).
-Epic Dragon capture in 24P 5K 2:1 Redcode 8:1 and 96P 5K 2:1 Redcode 14:1
-Finish in 4K for Vimeo and 2K for theater projection.
-Editing in Adobe Premiere Pro CC (most recent updated version)
The deadline is relatively relaxed so I won't be shooting cutting and grading in the mountains or anything...although that would be pretty sweet BTS footage. I need a laptop (already have external storage nailed down) that can ingest, edit at least 1/2 res, and color with PPCC. I know a lot of you do post on the run. I'm looking for something around $3000 that will do the job. Nothing crazy. Just a road-laptop that can get it done in a couple days. No monster machines for same day delivery. More of a Buick rather than a Mercedes CLK.
