I just wrapped principle photography on my first RED indie drama feature which I DP and op with a single camera shoot over the course of 13 consecutive days. I must say the camera was a joy to work with and as a new RED owner since the very first day of this year, I had learn more about tricks to acquire better picture with the RED sensor than I had ever did when filming shorter terms ads and videos.

Given most of the days on set were rather consistent 8-hour day or under, with two 12-hour days, the camera performed very well behave with the exception of two initial boot during the beginning of the day.

On day 7, the camera boot with the HUD (menu) and the first and third 1/3 of the screen fine, however, the second 1/3 reflected in a green square in the middle, the HUD on top and bottom were completely fine, just the sensor area became vertical green line. I rebooted it twice, still green. Just before I decided to change out from Brick power to shore and do a black shade and call the Bomb Squad, the problem seems to be fixed after I unplug then reattached the power cable to the brain (via a Tilta V-mount base).

One day 12, late 5pm call, I booted the camera on battery again, the whole screen resulted in a gray scale static with the exception of the timecode showing correctly on screen and counting up. No HUD nor sensor image this time, just fragmented gray scale static. I quickly power down the brain and reboot, the problem went away immediately.

A little information about the shooting spec of the film. I was running shore power over 80% of the time, and only switch to battery power on mobile situation. The camera was black shaded prior day 1 of the production to factory setting.

It was a bit of a panic when the green screen didn't clear after two reboot, and I was lucky that it went away. I had been on RED shoot in the past with much worse luck. So, just wondering if anyone out there had experience the same problem and might know the cause? Thanks guys!
