  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Mic for Scarlet

Several threads on the subject. Of course, " good mic" and "scratch audio" might be somewhat of an oxymoron However, just this week (based upon the threads on the subject) I picked up an Olympus ME51SW mini-mic from Fry's ... all of about $46.00. It comes with an extension cable. The actual mic itself will fit in the hole of a 15mm rod and the cable is just threaded thru the rod. My rods are 8'' and that keeps it far enough away enough from the fan not to pick up any fan noise.

Basically the setting are as follows: Mic plugged into Mic-1 input; Audio Record Enable is set to on; Cam Analog slider is set slightly below the middle; Under Audio Channels, CH 1/2 is Cam Analog; Mode is unbalanced; Link and Limiter are set to off; and Phantom 48V is set to off.

I also have an old Audio Technica 835b shotgun that would "probably" work with the right cable, but the little Olympus, for what it is, gets the job done as a cheap-n-cheerful scratch mic.
