OMG... They're picking on fat people and rounding up ginger kids for the slaughter. Made me think of South Park. Hehe.

They need a colorist.

Reminded me a lot of a film called Punishment Park. Felt like the short film version of that film.

Anyone know what this was shot on? It looks like 16mm film to my eyes.

Looks like a Canon to me..

My take on the video was a big metaphor for American imperialism in the world today. Masked police with just a single American flag patch, breaking down peoples doors, hurting them, gathering up a "certain type" of people, bringing them out to the middle of nowhere and playing games with their lives for pleasure. You have to draw comparisons to Iraq/Afghanistan while watching this.

Someone wrote this up online comparing the US Police in the video to the IDF and the red-headed kids to Palestinians. These are not my words...

1-IDF is very brutal (like the cops on the video) when they go to GAZA to pick up targets (wanted persons) , and sometimes they go to the wrong house , but nobody care if they are doing their job correctly or not , are residents safe when the IDF come to their neighborhood? None care ! The general feeling is : "They are just arab!"

2- Kids throwing rocks at IDF jeeps and military vehicles (Intifada)

3- keffiyeh

4-the Poster in the wall : "Our Day Will Come"

5- Dusty roads like Palestine's geography.

6- kalashnikovs = AK-47

7-The director of this clip is is the son of Constantinos Costa-Gavras,best known for films with overt political themes

Not sure what message this film is trying to convey. That genocide is bad? Ya, we all know that. Anti-American imperialism? Pro-immigration? Seems a bit exploitative in my eyes. Shock value for shock value's sake. I like the look but it was over the top, especially the boy shot in the head and the guy that exploded.

I don't know, the film just comes off as a cheap attempt to shock.

Sadly, by posting these major-label, professional videos at Vimeo (half a million views in one day??), this starts to kill off the ability for the little guy to make a great video and climb the most-favorited, most-viewed, most-liked charts on Vimeo, which up until now has been a great way for unknowns and up-and-comers to get recognized.

Hmm. I hadn't thought of that. Its true, one can't hope to compete without a massive press team. There should be a separate section of vimeo for "pro" videos, that would be exempt from being featured as video of the day and all of that. Or perhaps even then they would obscure the stuff by the "little guys" (us.)

Yeah, I thought the same thing. Maybe a separate category for professional, major-label music videos and movie trailers?

Honestly, what was the point? For one, something like this would never happen and such a video only serves to further cast the United States in a negative light. The video has American men in uniform acting like Nazi's. Read the comments on Vimeo, almost universal praise which I cannot understand for the life of me.

Just putting it out there - the video may be something of an allegory. Do five seconds worth of research into MIA's background... it's like saying Animal Farm only serves to cast pigs in a negative light.

Do you think anyone else will look into MIA's background after watching this video? It may be relevant in regards to her background but that is not the point, people will judge and come to conclusions without additional research.

Alright. I have the solution:

I propose that from this day forth no video shall be made which can possibly have anything but one literal translation. Furthermore, all videos shall be limited to the realm of 'what could possibly happen', and deal in content that requires zero cognitive processing and/or knowledge of anything previous.

This way no-one gets confused, and everyone is happy.
