  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

MG1 Concepts' V-mount & AB battery plate

I remember having a similar conversation about MG1 Products with you on DVXUSER. You must really like their stuff.

http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?257716-New-15mm-clamps

I don't work nor represent MG1 Concepts at all. I bought one of their new V-mount plate and other DSLR products from them. I feel I'm defending them here. I very much like their products and great customer service.

I'm all about promoting great products like yourself to others here or at other professional forums that I belong to.

Mitch, you should buy some of their products.

I heard from MG1 and they are shipping out our V-mount plate. Looking forward.

Still debating V-mount or Anton Bauer??? Both seems good. I read positive and negative of both mounts. Looks like MG1 has very good plates - V-mount is made of pure steel manufactured by IDX and Anton Bauer is the Gold version - compact style.

Others are using plastic plates...not sure if its better or worse in the long run. Time will tell.

So does this mg1concepts BP-511 v-mount battery plate for Scarlet come with the detachable place that will attach via the backpack? Theirs not much info on their site.

My understanding is their Detachable plate will be as one unit and you can attach it to the back, side or the top.

Its called "Scarlet V-mount Pro Battery plate" or "Scarlet Anton Bauer Pro Battery plate". They should add "Epic" to the title because you can use it for all Epic cameras. Same power requirements.

I can't say much...but their new Detachable plate is coming soon to a Epic/Scarlet near you.

I got the plate and for the limited offer, I'm receiving the detachable plate when they finish it. I will give you guys a thorough report.

I have always been amazed at how much these simple plates and lemo cables cost. For that price they should be closer to what Viewfactor is making.

I agree. I think they want to offer a reasonable price for these. But again, they will be raising the price when they release their detachable plate. Should be soon. They won't give out dates much like RED.

We got our battery plate so we are very happy. Haven't had time to take pics.

Just wanted to say a "Huge" thanks to MG1. They rock. Still seems like they are the only ones available in V-mount plate. Love the Custom etching, guys.

Can't wait to see their new AB plate. I may need both. Definitely, a company to watch.

Thanks again.

Ok can someone help me clear the air regarding MG1? The current offering is a battery plate with "D-plate" for $600: what exactly is the D-plate? Is it a quick release plate that allows me to remove the battery plate & D-plate from the back of an Epic without requiring tools? If so does the D-plate hang on the Redmote triangle or does it require additional bolts in the back of the camera to secure itself?

any info would be greatly appreciated.

also: Looking at the MG1 site it seems the cable coming out of the battery plate doesn't have the kind of robust cable protection at the point the cable exits the plate. It seems that over time that might be a spot where the cable may start to crack...

thx

the lack of information and clarity on the MG1 site regarding their products is exactly why I'd much prefer to buy from Viewfactor or Wooden Camera. I hope you can get some answers, Sid.

We know that Trevor...you speak all the time of ViewFactor. Then buy from ViewFactor and stop highjack this thread...

I can't speak on their behalf about their website but the D-plate means "Detachable" plate it states that on their website. it attaches/detaches pretty simple if you want to mount it on from the back. Its uses those M4 bolts to attach and detach.

Correct. It's all one unit something I figure like V/factors. Yes, the battery plate is removable to swap out different lengths if you wish or tighten those M4 screws if necessary. It doesn't hang on the triangle.

The cable coming from the side is very robust and it won't snap if that's what you are worried about. Again, I don't know much of the other companies but they all seem to attach to the M4 screws maybe except WC.

I don't mount it to the back, I use those 1/4-20" threaded holes to mount it to my rig. There are 15 of them. 5 on the top back and 5 on the lower back and the best part, 5 below on the bottom of the plate. Sweet spot.

Contact them for more info if you are still unclear. I'm very happy with ours and regardless of their site i'm still impressed especially for their customer service is very responsive and caring.

That's what counts for me.
