  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

MG1 Concept AB mount

Try going through the process. Like put it in your cart. Then just got to the first step of checkout. :(

I order the Pro Package about a month ago and it was a big ordeal. Though, on their site it says up to three days, it took over ten days. These people must be going through growing pains. Lousy customer service too.

You get what you pay for unfortunately! I've been very happy with my Viewfactor APU, and it shipped promptly and arrived quickly.

I ordered the V-Mount plate and 2 batteries around NAB last year. Arrived without delay. One of the batteries was faulty, and MG1 was very responsive in dealing with it.

Not discounting your personal experience, just providing my own.

Here we go again and again, what is your beef with MG1, Trevor. Sounds like you have a personal vendetta against this company? Were you an unsatisfied customer?

If you have something good to say about this company - fine but if not, you should refrain it to yourself. Bad mouthing other companies on this forum isn't good for all.

Jim told you the last time about this and you continue to do so. I'm surprised you haven't been banned because of these childish behavior.

We are all professionals here, right?

Just an observation Michael. No trash talking at all. However, your constant overreaction when anyone even mentions something other than MG1 is pretty childish. We get that you enjoy your MG1 stuff, that's great. But it's good that people are also posting when they have an issue with ordering like this. Open information is what this forum is for.

Now just quit with your trolling of my posts, thanks.

Another alternative is the Switronix Jet Pack

Provides much needed power options on the side:
(1) USB 5 Volt (Full sized, not mini)
(2) 4 pin Lemo 12 Volt
(1) 2 pin Lemo 5 Volt

Plus (2) D Tap on the AB Battery plate (One on the top, one on the side)

Great build quality - highly recommended.

Other than Wooden Cam, View Factor, and MG1... are there any other alternatives?

I don't think anyone else offers a direct camera-back mount. There are some rear module type things from another company — the name of which is slipping my mind at the moment — that are more like power breakout units w/ a battery mount on the back. From what I remember the battery sits at kind of an angle up or down... anyone remember which company that is? They were quite pricy from what I remember.

Thank you for your help. I'm building out my first Red and thirdparty batteries seem to be a bit confusing at first.

Completely understand. It's not too complicated. Thanks for the PM, feel free to hit me up any time with questions. Cheers!

One of the power modules that has a slanted design is the "Electra" - manufactured by Action Products.

You can get a good overview on their website: www.actionproducts.ch/portfolio_item/powermodule-electra-qr/

Trevor's memory is correct - quite pricey.

Mitch Gross from Abel has an online overview about the unit I mentioned in post #11.

i've been using that particular product for a while.
You will grow into it. The extra power outputs come in handy to attach numerous AKS such as downconverters, wireless transmitters (Teradek) - never mind recharging your phone in the field...

Note: costs less than 1/4 of the Electra... priced right

innocinema —*That's who it was. Thanks Brian!

Here's the link to their website. For some reason it's also listed on ActionProducts. http://www.innocinema.com/camera-ac...ucts-epic-scarlet-powermodule-electra-qr.html

And dayummm it is pricey!

Seems to me you always trash talk of MG1, just an observation and we get you enjoy VF - fine but you don't see me trash talk them, do you?

I think you should apologize unless you personally had a problem with them? Have you?

Yes, I agree this is an "Open" forum that's why we all come here to gain knowledge and wisdom. I believe yours isn't.

Again, just my observation.
