  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Metric 18-50mm...

if your not going to use a 1st AC then cool, your call entirely. Pull that lens out for proper film shoot in UK, US, NZ, Australia etc etc and there will be some head scratching.

Surprisingly, there are humans (and humanoids) that have somehow accepted the existential risk to live outside of the pointed areas.

As an even bigger surprise, some of them actually venture to try and pull some focus for a change.

And... (OK, I know this is really shocking)... some of these are, actually, pretty good at doing it.

So...

come on, everybody knows that that is an fairy tale/urban legend. nobody would survive french cuisine, irish whisky, german beer, italian wine and greek honey for longer than some days....

What are you talking about?! As long as there is a Mc Donalds in the vicinity, you can survive anything even as extreme as what you mention

But come on, seriously now, nobody has mentioned the fact that less than a month ago you all went on a crusade against Jim, Jarred ad co. and just this much later, here are the lenses. That is, without the slightest hint of brown nosing, pretty darn impressive. My hat is off...

Yeah, I know. I'm just practicing my storytelling skills.

We want our European RED office and we want it NOoOoOW!

:gun:

yes stared at that irony for years, you grow up learning metric all through school, then stare at lenses for decades dealing with 4'6" and 24mm on the same piece of equipment.
And what with infinity being metric too. :sarcasm:

I suspect the metric infinity is more predictable with ten fingers than the imperial one... Technically the infinity comes in close, does't it?

I wonder why people still use miles, nautic miles and such. Nasa crashed a million dollar mars mission into mars' dust by mixing it up (hehe, the inches where to looong, 5-4-3-boing!).

I wonder that a day has 24 hours, an hour 60 minutes, a circle 360 degrees, electrons run from plus to minus, temperature is still being measured in Fahrenheit somewhere, just to name a few "technically" misconceptions IMHO.

It needs a big decision to change worlds. And the british and related had always been very very conservative (still using pounds over the Euro).

Remains one question:

Any possibility to trade imperial for metric? Jarred? Brent? Kelly?

Nautical miles make way more sense than Kilometers for navigation. 6000 feet, 60 secs, 60 minutes, sure makes the math easier. Nasa confusued newtons (a metric unit of force, that no one even tried to teach me in school) with pounds of thrust.

Most precision machining is done in inches, even metric is converted because a tenth of a milimeter is too big, and a 100th is too small. Thousandths of an inch are just right.

Personally, I like measurements that are based on people. I know what an acre is, but never could visualize a hectar.

I mean really, other than 10 and the fact that europe uses it, whats so great about the metric system? In the states we all know it, and recognize that it's used in science fields, but not for bolts, distance, speed, or liquids.

End of rant.

Arrived ?

Arrived ?

Hello everybody,

I wondered if somebody had accepted his metric 18-50mm.

Should I buy Imperial or Metric lenses in Canada?

Should I buy Imperial or Metric lenses in Canada?

I am wondering if I should buy Imperial or Metric Red lenses for use in Canada. For my own use I could probably work either way, but I would like to have equipment that will be easy & familiar for crews in Canada to work with. My read on the thread so far is that Imperial measurements would be a best fit here in Canada.

What are other Canadians suggesting?
