Ok, I've been struggling with this for a few days now. This is my first time using MetaFuze, and I've been through the Avid step-by-step, and watched a number of online tutorials.

After I transcode my files and import my ALE in MC, I go to relink (I've used the clip menu and the right-click drop down menu) and go through the set-up screen to relink, but no media is relinked.

I have no idea what I'm doing wrong.

Do the files show up in the Media Tool?

Michael

Once you transcoded the files into MXF files, where did you put them?

Michael

That's what it is, I checked. This whole process is really frustraiting. I can navigate to see my MXF files, but MetaFuze changed the file names, so I had to go edit those so they'd match.

I can't get the redcine X to work for me either because the windows support is lagging behind. I guess I'm just SOL on this project because I can't get my footage from R3D to any usable format at this time. Sometimes it sucks being self taught.

Try unchecking "Relink only to media from the current project" when you relink.

When you say "MetaFuze changed the file names, so I had to go edit those so they'd match" do you mean you went in and renamed the MXF files themselves? If that's the case you shouldn't do that. Go back and make the MXFs again and don't change anything. Just import the ALE and relink.

I did uncheck that box. When exporting the ALE, the file names in the ALE file were changed. The MXF files started with A005, and in the ALE they were marked A006.

Which filenames are you editing? You shouldn't be changing the name of the MXF files once created.

Michael

So In order for the avid to be able to correctly relink the ALE to the MXFs these have to be in the Mediafiles folder ? I also had problems with this and I ended up manually copying the MXFs to the Mediafiles location and doing things "manually".

They need to be in the Avid Mediafiles/MXF/1

or 2 or 3 depending on how many files are in the original /1 directory. And yes, they need to be in this folder to be recognized by the Media Composer. Copy the files when MC is not running.

Michael

I also asked this in the Metafuze 2.1 thread but i'm asking here again because i haven't received any answer. How can I change Gamma and color space options from metafuze ? I read the help files but I don't understand.

You cannot. MF converts from RedSpace to Rec709.
You may add RLX files in another application to create a look.

umm...RLX files are outputed by Red Alert ? I'm using a PC and I never heard of these type of files.

To anyone who is having problems linking files from an ALE or just needs help in viewing them in Avid here's a link I started on the Avid forums. Guys very helpful

I managed to solve the relink problem myself (explained in my last post) in the end but it's worth reading for the info.

cheers
