I was looking into the Metabones Canon EF Lens to RF-Mount T CINE Speed Booster Ultra 0.71x Adapter (EOS-R). Has anyone used them? Thoughts?

My RF to Nikon one arrives Wednesday, I'll let you know after i've tested it. I've been adapting my Nikons to the Viltrox RF to EF the extra FOV is great, I just can't get it to focus my lenses out to infinity.

We use the Canon version, and it works great.

Are you referring to the Canon EOS EF-RF Mount Adapter 0.71? If I'm not mistaken the mount bracket on it didn't seem ideal for Komodo. I think the Metabones has a locking type mount.

I've been using it with my Komodo and it's great. For me it's worth it to pay the extra for the locking lens adapter, and that's the main reason I bought this one over the Cannon.

Only real problem I have with it, is I use the 8sinn cage and there doesn't seem to be a support mount for it... I mean I just use the 8sinn support mount but I need to prop small washers in there to fill a little gap between the mount itself and the Metabones adapter. It's not ideal, still looking. Please if anyone has a solution or a mount that would work let me know. I appreciate it.

Yes, the locking adapter is a big selling point to me for the Metabones. I also have an 8Sinn cage and it came with the support mount plate. I assumed it fits the Metabones. But I do have a SmallRig cage as well, so once I get a Metabones I'll have to update on what I'm using for support mount.

Yes, I am referring to the Canon, but unless you are using a super long lens, there isn't going to be an issue without the lock. I'm also more confident with Canon optics. And then there's this: I seldom actually use the darn thing anyway, so it doesn't get much wear and tear.

it will not fit the 8sinn cage/support foot. That's what I have and need to put washers to fill the gap. I have looked so if you find something that would be awesome if you share. Otherwise I may just get a new cage, which sucks. Thanks man.

The only reason I bought the 8 Sinn cage was because it advertised Speedbooster support. The adapter doesn't work with the locking Booster. I 3D printed a small adapter block between the 8Sinn cage and the Metabones foot as it seemed the simplest. Nothing fancy but it does the job.

Good Luck

Wow. That's really cool. You should consider making these for purchase. Seems to be a market for it. And it sounds like having the right mount/chin strap is going to determine which speed booster I should buy at this point. The price is negligible between Metabones and Canon's. I can't seem to find any videos doing a comparison cause all the videos out there are more to do with Viltrox vs Canon.

Dude please message me if you would consider making one to sell me. I would love something like this. Thanks man.

I ran off a batch in less fashionable black PLA. Buyer beware, I wouldn't consider this a true lens support, more of an anti-rotation bracket. Drop me a DM If you want one (free).

Returning to the OP, the 8 Sinn cage is also heavy and interferes with the Komodo Link adapter. I much prefer the Kippertie but obviously no booster. I'm going to move this combo to the marketplace.

Good Luck

I saw a video recently that claimed the Metabones adapter is not compatible with DZO Pictor lenses and can damage the glass. Can anyone confirm if the Metabones EF to RF will work with an EF mount version of DZO Pictor?
