  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Message to Apple: WE WANT A NEXT GENERATION MACPRO FOR OUR RED WORKFLOW.

I never thought the Mini would be selling that great...guess it works great as a 'welcome to the Apple family' when moving from a PC.

I have to agree, I hope they don't kill the Mac Pro but if they do, I hope that they update the Mac Pro with some stunning new design, more slots, more thunderbolts then the iMac.

Perhaps a whole Mac line revamp event in March/April? They do have to update the Macbook Pro design and I guess the iMac design a little bit, so the Mac Pro surely will either be decided if it lives or dies in 2012.

Edit:

I'm surprised there hasn't been any of those emails to Tim Cook about the Mac Pro... they have them for merging apple ids and everything else it seems...wonder why not this issue...

I really like Apple's products and have many of them (some multiples of each, as I am sure most of us do). If they had a 20-core MP w/ more PCI, SATA3 support, Thunderbolt & USB3.0 I'd be all over it in a heartbeat. However, If they decide they don't want to support the Pro user anymore, fine -- open up your code more and let us build our own. I have been waiting and waiting for a feasible successor to come along, I saw the 12-core refresh as a .5 version, so it has been nearly 1000 days since a real refresh, but I am tired of waiting. Consequently, I can and am building an editing workstation with performance specs that beat the top-end MacPro offering. Moreover, it is dollar-for-dollar more bang for the buck than a MacPro. Only downfall is I am stuck putting Win7x64 on it because the components aren't supported even on a hacki build. I would much prefer to use OS X, but oh well. It is a purpose-built work machine, and to that end it will serve the business use case well. When/if the new MacPro is available, I will likely get one. In the meantime, my money goes elsewhere. C'est la vie.

Smart man, Jon.

You'd be surprised how many shop here in the DC area are doing the same thing.

Don't expect any major workstation updates until Intel get's their Ivy bridge manufacturing issues resolved. intel just just pushed back their Ivy Bridge release to April....so most likely no workstations until summer. Also, let it be a lesson to all of us to not rely and invest solely in one company (especially in a tightly dictated and semi closed system like Apple)...you should always be open to multiple options and be versatile. I don't see why today anyone would be Mac only or PC only....it's very easy to have both and it's very easy to switch from one OS to another. It's not voodoo magic.... Those are just tools....today PC and Macs have pretty much the same capabilities, same software access, and virtually same hardware. Stop saying you hate win7 or you hate OsX...they are both very functional and stable. Open your minds and enjoy what each system has to offer!
