  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Thought this might interest some folks here.
I just got back from seeing this thing in action. Wow! They were (only!) showing 1080p upscaled to 4K but I've never seen anything like it. Their calibration process takes over four days to complete and it shows. Uniformity of colour and greyscale response outperforms anything i've seen up to now and of course the resolution speaks for itself. I'd love to see some Red (or better yet, Epic) footage pumped through it.
 
The 810 is capable of (and individually calibrated to) the Hollywood reference level of 16-lamberts on any screen up to pretty huge sizes. Contrast is 10,000:1, and it should be available very soon with 4 different lens options on offer.
 
As an audiophile I know how good the gear from Meridian is. Their DSP series of speakers are some of the best. However, they are very expensive.

At least it's 4096 x 2400 instead of 3840 x 2160 like many of the other "4K" projectors coming out.
 
I think they'll update their website (www.meridian-audio.com) with info about it soon and a couple of hifi related websites have some details. I should have more information in the near future. I'll try and answer questions (probably best by PM for now?) but I don't think there's that much out there about it yet.
 
I believe they are OEM'ing JVC's 4K projector that was announced around the beginning of the year -and putting their name on it.

Even so, JVC's D-ILA technology is very impressive and has been continually refined over the course of 7 or 8 years. It's quite possibly the best looking digital projector technology I've ever seen. (and I've seen alot... ;)
 
They have an exclusive on JVCs tech for this area. Also they are the only ones to use the full 10 megapixel chipset (everyone else only "lights" 8). I believe the glass and light engine is unique to this product. Also the image processing, and most importantly calibration is Meridians own process. They use their own software to individially calibrate each four by four pixel grid for uniformaty of chromatism/ colour temp etc and then for your specific screen, room and zoom position etc. This results in an image that is radically different from a JVC image, even one that is ISFed or whatever.
Lastly their upscaler, although less relavent to folks here, is incredible. Very natural, elegant and artifact free.
 
I do sell their products (usually audio) from time to time.. but no, I don't work for them! Its more that I'm fresh back from the demo and feeling a little enthusiastic!
