my f#cking new c-class mercedes died on me today, after driving a total of 900 km with it over the past 2 weeks.

made in germany is a slogan of the past.

and i waited f#cking 4 hours in the middle of nowhere before service picked me up.

(and dont forget the stressing wife sitting next to me, was a great day today )

Heh that's why I've always prefered BMW.better service and just seems to do it's job.but obviously as of late their designs are kinda crap.

We've had a few mercades and it seems even the smallest technical issue results in hours of wait and checking then finally the towing away of the car to be fixed!probably why Im starting to think the analog style stuff was better then all this "new digital, lets throw everything in the car that we can" style generation of cars.

it was the electronic shit that caused this, man i dont want an Imac with wheels, i want a car.
all this new hightech bullshit just stress, the car has more buttons than my laptop

Had an '02 E320 4Matic.

Couldn't wait to get rid of it. Lots of little nit-picky problems.

I drive two Toyotas now.

Brother, when is the last time a CARB let you down? really, F* all the electronic bullshit. keep that shit for RED, and your IPOD (Notice I did NOT say Iphone)?

I have an 06 A4, and its had its share of electrical issue. Sometimes trade off of these small conveniences aren't worth it

After my brother in law's Audi. My sister's VW and my last VW I went Volvo with my new car. German cars in the last 10 years seem to just be an electrical failure waiting to happen.

Thank God all I can afford is Civic; takes me everywhere I need:)

Well I'm pretty sure one of the Mods have seen it or the RED boys, mustve gone for a coffee break before closing the thread =P

Till 1998 everything was made in Germany, now lot of parts is made around Europe so dont expect ol good 100% German quality. Damned globalization.

I have VW Golf III '98, everything manual and no problemo. Its even better than IV generation. Also my Sony TV from 1987 "Made in Germany" still works flawlessly

Zip Cars All the wayyyyyyysss....

We had an $80k Merc ML-320. After about 30 repairs just during warranty period and a Fair Trading Tribunal hearing we sold this P.O.S. for about 1/3 the price. I just can't point out to a single part that did not fail or fell apart to pieces during warranty. And, the Merc distributor - Daimler Chrysler are the worst crooks I've ever had displeasure to deal with. Unfortunately we do not have lemon laws in Australia.

My Beemer is 11 years young and even the original break pads still have 30% life left. No problems to speak of. The Merc required pad and discs replacement (a $4000 "service") every 12,000km (8k miles) and they tried to convince the court (unsuccessfully) that this was "normal" waear and not a design fault :banghead:

Frankly...swap it for a Hyundai - it may not look as good, but it is a day and night comparison in reliability.

A 10 year old Toyota is more reliable than a new off the showroom Merc.

I had a friend of mine receive delivery only to have it under warranty repair the same week. Apparently it required a firmware update. I wouldn't want to be Beta testing down the highway doing a hundred that's for sure.

Mercs are great cars. As long you buy a really old one.

But the S500 IR headlamps / nightvision screen sure is sweet.

yeah mercedes suck - ask any cab driver here in germany - the old ones were great (and you see still a lot of them for example in gaza doing 200.000 kilometers and more).

i once had a mercedes as production car driving the dp, another operator and all the cameras to a concert shoot - the mercedes broke down after 24 kilometers, the service team came with laptops but couldn't get the right software update and we got towed back to munich to change the car.

Have a 2001 Toyota Yaris Verso as primary work vehicle, and done more then 10000km in it this summer. Just put gas in it, and just runs forever.
