I'm sure if I wanted to dig around and find all the specs and do the math I could, but I know that one of my fellow redusers here have already figured it all out and will know in a snap. Besides, I know everybody is just waiting around for a bit of footage so this will help pass a little time :emote_popcorn:

At the data rates spec'd for Scarlett 3K fixed, which I don't know what that rate is, how much memory would it require to hold an hour of 3K footage?

It will depend on the REDCODE setting that you choose, as well as the frame rate.

A quick look in the iSee4K app tells me that 24 fps 3K from the RED ONE at REDCODE 36 would be about 1 GB/minute. The Scarlet should be able to shoot lower data rate than that, as well as all the way up to REDCODE 100.

Yes, Stephen I am also counting that 64MB CF would hold about 1 hour of footage in 3K fixed lens Scarlet.

At the same time, with REDCODE 28 at 4K being of exceptional quality already...what would the REDCODE 28 at 4K equivalent be for 3K? We should get even more than 64minutes on a single 64GB CF card.

Sounds like we are back to the same length of a Mini DV tape if not more. I won't really need the dual CF module after all.

then imagine if you got an 640gb RED DRIVE for cheap and well, you'd be able to shoot for a whole day. INSANE. and people are complaining about the cost of the storage.

Thanks Stephen. So a few 64 gig cards and a place to dump them should be able to easily cover a day shoot. It is going to be a great option to be able to record up to Redcode 100 for those who need it, but I think that Redcode 36 should easily cover most of my needs. Good News!
