  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Meizler Module... Supercharged.

Is the PRICE the same As the one from NAB? ($13,000)

ha ha ha no.. thats just the generic solidworks connectors :)
Good to know! Please make power and sound connections as different with each other as possible (but preferably compatible with what Red has done in the past).

I am getting one of those, can anyone list out the features of it in one place for reference.

Why redmag mini?

Size! The Meizler does so many things but the goal is to keep it compact, and, perhaps, it allows to keep things simple. Redmags for raw .r3d data and Redmag mini for proxies.

Cheers,
Damien

They will be cheaper than standard SSD drives and will eventually match capacity

Don't know how much the Rendering is supposed to tell us but the MiniMag in the Render is a 1TB. I imagine the mini-mags will have substantially lower bandwidth requirements. 1080p DNxHD is only about 20MBs vs RED's 200MBs. So I would hope that the Minimags are substantially cheaper.

What if the minimag is for backup copies as well?
Why would there be a 1TB mini mag if the pro res and DNx take even less space than the R3Ds.
But then again it might just be at 1TB only because it's possible to make them ;)

Just trying to stir the pot and confuse people hehehe

Taking the confusion a bit further. Maybe the mini-REDMAGs are made for the new REDRGB-codec? ;)

Lots of speculation which is to be expected with no information.. glad you guys are having fun trying to figure it out. I really should of waited till IBC to post it.. but patience is not a virtue I have time for ;)

Bump..... Original Post #43:

Bump..... Original Post #43:

It keeps getting better...

A question: With the bottom acting as a riser to carry the cables to the front, how will this affect the alignment of matte boxes on rods to the center of lenses?
Does the bottom mate to the DSMC receivers or will this require an entire new set of DSMC mounts?

Other thoughts:

+1 for the mini-USB 5V

Noted the DTAP is gone - understandable

Any chance a 12V lemo power could be added to the front? With the encapsulated cables for the motors already terminating there, would be a nice addition for a lens light or other accessory.

Great job!

+1 on the riser question. That was my first thought, super important...

Jarred; Is this a "hold your breath" query until IBC???

Really like the design, slick, compact and innovative. Will this still be a 5-figure investment? Keep it up guys!

I was asking myself the same question... look forward reading the answer !

Bull$hit... Since when did you do something you didn't want to just because you were told to? I'd guess only if you had a gun pointed at your head.

heh heh yeah you are right... that is why it is still there. I guess I had a moment of sanity there in the middle of the night when I posted that.... thank god that moment passed.

Are we still talking Preston HU2 compatibility?
I decided yesterday I was going to IBC. You guys, and gals, planning any 4K projections? A Red Ray demo? I don't think that's happened at IBC yet, then again I haven't been in a couple years.
Cheers,
Damien
