  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Meizler Module... Supercharged.

I'm in love with it, looks fantastic. Guess its out of my budget, but thats ok. I'll order one when i upgrade to EPIC. ;)

It keeps getting better...

A question: With the bottom acting as a riser to carry the cables to the front, how will this affect the alignment of matte boxes on rods to the center of lenses?
Does the bottom mate to the DSMC receivers or will this require an entire new set of DSMC mounts?

Other thoughts:

+1 for the mini-USB 5V

Noted the DTAP is gone - understandable

Any chance a 12V lemo power could be added to the front? With the encapsulated cables for the motors already terminating there, would be a nice addition for a lens light or other accessory.

Great job!

+1 on the riser question. That was my first thought, super important...

You mean the "Julebox" - We will talk about that a bit later.

A mini Meizler.. :) with a built in 4k PRORES maker and some audio plugs, all in a very small package... so i can stay super small. :)))
Yep I know, I know... I sound like a broken record. But I'm only one of thousands screaming out to keep our EPICs small.

Ive just finished shooting a million dollar TVC on ubar stripped EPIC with Super speeds... (actually been doing it all year) I tell you this. I dont want to ever go big again. But thanks for making all the big toys for the guys that like big cameras... , but don't forget about us, small epic guys that would love some useful add on's as well. (and willing to spend)

Thanks Jarred.

I like where this is going.

I like where this is going.

When the situation requires it I pop on the super Meizler. When the Meizler would be overkill I pop on the Jules. When I need to take every ounce off I just shoot with the brain and a side handle battery. I love the idea that I could have a Peli case with the 2 back ends and the ability to swap them quickly to suit each setup. Brilliant.

Tip of the hat.

Cheers - #19

I feel like RED would sell twice as many units if they make it stackable like the rest of the modules but, from the looks of it, RED is continuing with the philosophy that the Meizler Module either can't or just simply won't play nice with the other modules. Is the EPIC/MM combination that perfect and complete that no one would ever (or even rarely) want to add additional functionality by adding modules?

...just a small example:

Toia's "mini IO" between the EPIC and the MM would be beautiful combination.

As I understand it: NOT doable under the current plan.

I just don't get why you would sacrifice the ability to add PRO level audio ports to this set-up (A BOB doesn't count).

Maybe the v-mount is optional so that the back of the MM could still have the port for other modules. The pic leaves room for that.

Well put Mark, I to really enjoy the smallness.... if thats a work,,, of the camera and how mobil you become when you dont have a lot of hardware to deal with .
Thanks for giving us the kitchen sink though.. Ill be in line.

There are a lot of suggestions on this thing.. And yet, I don't think any of us know what it really does... For some reason, I find that humorous...

Personally I think this is just amazing.. I can just hear red's competition: "WTF?! It does THIS now?!" EPIC and SCARLET are moving targets.. This makes them hard to hit.

Well done guys. Well done.

Why redmag mini?

Mini SSDs are actually the next wave. Nice to see RED moving on these. They will be cheaper than standard SSD drives and will eventually match capacity. Perhaps the new 32gb media will actually be minimag????
