  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Meet Snappy @ ISO 800

Isn't that a "Prawn" from 'District 9'...

Seriously tho' if 800 is the new 320 I'm delirious (right up there with those new Arri digital cameras)!! :hurray:

No. They are right up there with us... :-)

Jim

We are just posting stuff as we go along. When we are finished, we'll post stuff for critical viewing. All you are getting now is a sneak-peek during the process.

Jim

No problem, I understand- and I appreciate being taken along for the ride. :) (But I still want to know ;) ).

Anyway- I am VERY interested in finding about the upgrade program- I'd love to be able to send my Red in now to get the new sensor ... even if all of the bugs are not worked out yet, that is something I'm willing to work with.

Roosters?

Roosters?

Nice stuff Mr RED. I cant wait to show some f35 boys what is about to attack them (in more ways than one.

Mr Olsen what do the roosters drink in your neck of the woods if they look like that, or do you live in Atlantis????

looks remarkably similar to a Rooster whom just walked past my gate 5 mins ago.
Nice image.

I am playing this on loop and I cannot believe what I'm seeing here...

Good times to come.. good times.

My hopelessly outdated 2.4GHz P4 plays it just fine with the ProRes for Windows codec ...

Is it even pro-res. My computer played it and I've never installed pro-res on it to my knowledge.

Absolutely fantastic.

I add this as one of the highlights of the year...

Btw, what about STAGE FIVE to get fast and easy this "beast" on our R1s?

Graeme... YOU'RE THE MAN! SO ARE YOU JIM! You did alright Jarred... hahaha just kidding Jarred. Your doign an awesom job too.

So nice to come home from a night of heavy drinking to find yet another beautiful post from Red. Love you guys (and gals) keep on working and I hope you thoroughly enjoy your holidays, you deserve it.

happy holidays to everyone

photo looks great, the blacks are amazing! I am a windows user so I am missing on the fun though...

KO

How so? Install Quicktime and play it. That's all I did on Windows 7.

Quicktime on Windows has a funky Gamma issue (not sure how I can correct this) but I just snapshotted and now I see the blacks properly. Yeah, awesome!

I have QuickTime Pro on XP and I see perfect blacks...but not much more than that :prrr:

BTW, From the still picture it looks like Jarred's pet dog Izzy had a cute little pup.

What's with you and QT issues Pawel! LOL

Plays perfect on my XP-32 with QT Pro 7.6.4

Ahh, silly me! I have fallen behind the times and not updated the damn thing since version 7.4.5. :emote_headwall:

Now I can see the highlights too :biggrin5:

Courtesy of the Jim and Graeme color science tag-team..

Speaking about the new Color Science...
Am I correct by saying that the new color science isn't a change in the camera itself (on the sensor) but actually the how the programs debayers the raw-data from the same sensor... so even if I shoot with a camera that has the new color science but my grading app doesn't... then I woun't see any difference.
But also the opposite, if I shoot with an "old" camera that only have the old color science but are grading the shots in an app that DO have the new color scince, THEN I will see a difference.

If thats true... is the new color science inplemented in the Mac/Win/Linux SDK's?
