  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

MEET FELIX....

Awesome!! Can't wait for R3Ds! :) Thanks Jarred!

Shot on Scarlet 8x...

And before you say how cute he is.. watch the video Shot on Epic @96fps

Ill post some R3D's from both Scarlet and Epic for you guys to play with a bit later tonight.. gotta go eat something before I fall over.

Really impressive how great it looks. looking forward to R3Ds! and to have my own Camera ! thats for sure.

That is tasty... what's with the weird frame size? Very excited to see the scarlet footage, I wanna see some motion from the 8x zoom!

This is hurting my brain right now. This looks so good. 12:1 redcode? 1260 pushed a stop? REDs images are squeaky clean. Where is the grain (err noise)? AMAZING!

Keep in mind that these images have been scaled right-down. Hence everything's bound to look ultra detailed and perfectly clean (as in no grain). They're no 1:1 crop in other words.

Have you looked at any footage from other cameras compressed into an M4v lately?

Almost everything I see looks like dogshit compared to this.

It looks unreal I know, but some people are commenting on characteristics of a scaled down image (detail, noiseless), rather than anything specific to RED's image quality.

Yeah ! Thanks a lot Jarred ! You made my day !

It's even better that's it's the fixed lens scarlet being shown.

The still yes. But I guess most of us went straight for the video clip, and that's what being commented most.

The video clip is shot on Epic with a pixel count LESS than 3% of original size.

The Epic clip DOES look cool for what it is, but I guess we just have to keep waiting for 8x Fixed.

I don't think it's a stretch to say that people waiting for Epic and people waiting for Scarlet are two different groups of customers (not counting those what will buy both cameras).

This time around it was the 8x Fixed groups' turn at a clip. I am surprised that Jarred chose an Epic clip, but he did say he will post native files from Scarlet as well. Hopefully it will be a few seconds of motion. That way we can evaluate computer performance too.

Really looking forward to it!

from my wife tonight: "working late again tonight honey?" ...

I'm lucky to have a patient wife :-) She actually likes when I'm jazzed about what I do.

Clearly you and Jim are also so blessed.

Life is good,

Steve
