iPad Webapp Launches as Beta
We have heard from many of you that you're eager to use the iPad in conjunction with MediaSilo to review clips and to collaborate. We agree that the iPad will undoubtedly have a tremendous impact on video production.
Today, we are taking the first step by releasing our iPad web application for mobile Safari. We are committed to exploring the iPad with you and to coming up with innovative new approaches, features, and user interfaces for online collaboration. Phase One is a beta application for reviewing content. Future iterations will incorporate more MediaSilo functionality, such as annotations, search, and transcripts. Finally, a native iPad application is in the works and will be launched later this summer.
New encoding profiles - better quality, smaller proxy files
In order to publish content for the iPad, we have changed our encoding profiles from H.264 Flash files to H.264 MOV files and optimized video quality while lowering file size. But this means that files previously encoded as FLV files cannot be played back on the iPad. All content uploaded after 4/28/10 is converted using the new profile and can be viewed on the iPad. If you would like to re-encode clips in an existing workspace drop us a line.
