Is it possible to create a mechanical shutter module? I would much prefer this over the Motion Mount.

Mechanical shutter? Sounds cool and interesting, but i'm not sure what the big benefits of this would be. The Motion Mount is more versatile, reliable and sturdy too.

A DSLR-like shutter-design wouldn't be the right way for a film-camera. You have seen the maximum shutter counts DSLR-manufacturers give and you also know how their maximum fps-rates. Such a thing would die quickly, even without high fps. And the more classic way with a rotating disc would need lots of space and introduce other problems, while not offering real benefits.

Still, i would like to see how this would affect the look of motion. :)

That was the optical viewfinder which implies a mirror but we are referring to a rotary shutter and can be much smaller...and as an add-on too I think...

I understand. So the mechanical look of the shutter without the benefit of a OVF.

Why not? Couldn't it be an "easy" third party addon?

There is not much place for this and you can't just put something between lenses and mount because that would mess with focal flange distances. This thing also needs to be controlled by the camera and kept in synch with sensor... Lots more. Whatever, the best way to realize it would be a new lens-mount.

I'm still not really convinced this would look heavily different than what the motion mount delivers. And maybe it's possible to program new modes for the motion-mount to emulate different kinds of mechanical shutters (with all their "flaws")?
