I watched a movie on cable TV a couple of weeks ago, "The Big Bang". Much of the story was told in flash backs and those scenes were characterized by strong golden highlights and cerulean blue shadows though the mixed lighting was still fairly neutral.
It reminded me of classic McCandless stage lighting techniques where you pair complementary warm and cool gels that produce close to neutral white light when mixed, but highlights and shadows where the two are isolated take on the gel color.
Do any of you use similar techniques for dramatic films or commercial work?
