Hi All,
Perhaps someone here or from RED can let me know if this combination is gonna work?

MB20-II only really works with lens' upto 138mm (back bellows adaptor diameter), correct??

Red 18-85 is 139mm on the outside, correct??

I'll bet they did that on purpose! Oh well, nothing a couple of hours of sandpapering won't sort out.

Thanks everyone!

Ben

It will just Squeeze in.... without any inserts.

snifff snifff no 138mm ring? will the 18-85 have threads for a 138mm retaining ring?

The internal threads are 135mm

PLEASE SELL IT WITH A 138mm retaining ring and a stepdown to 135mm. I beg you guys to stick with some of the standards in place on film sets. 138mm, 4.5" and series 9 are it when it comes to round filters on sets (ok there are some 6" too). please please please make a system to hold a 138mm filter directly onto the front of the lens so if we use it with something like a mb20 we can still use our polas. Also for aerial work a 138mm clear is a necessity.

I'd also like to congratulate you guys on what looks like an amazing lens. After seeing this guys flickr stream, I have to say it just fu@king beautiful.

When?

When?

Can I use this thread and ask what is the status of existing reservations for 18-85? It looks to me it was pulled out of the shelf in Red store.

BTW, It looks like there is a wait for most (all?) Arri MB of about 4 weeks.

That depends, some places in LA keep them in stock.
I *think* FilmTools is one such place, but don't quote me on that. ;)

Oh and that camera setup from the booth pic, looks bad@$$!
Great work guys.

Regarding MB20: Arri is over 3 months behind. I'm in the queue since over 3 months now.

Hans

This is awfull news.

May I ask where did you order?

Emmanuel

Abel will be all caught up on backorders by end of June and will have more additional stock to fulfill orders. So that puts us about three weeks out, not three months.

I ordered at Arri, Munich.

AbelCine has the financial "power" to put a reasonable amount in stock. Here in Germany there is no rentalhouse/dealer that puts things like MB20 on the shelf. Sometime its good to participate in such a huge market like the US are.

It looks like shipping things around the globe makes sense although its made just around the corner; globalisation loves traffic.

Such a pleasure to read you Mitch, as always.

Any news about this new ARRI mattebox?

Emmanuel

It still doesn't have a name yet, but we're supposed to have one in our booth at CineGear. We'll have them available for sale at the end of this month or shortly thereafter. I can't tell you about lens clearances on it until I get a production model in my hands to test. Should be very soon.
