  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Maybe I missed something

Hey guys, just curious, if the Super 35 Scarlet comes out first, would it be possible to upgrade to the Full Frame Scarlet sensor later? What I mean is, can you get the S35 Scarlet now and buy a sensor upgrade to make it full frame or is it that you have to buy a whole new body?

The reason I ask all this is because I thought it was said somewhere that, with the exception of the 2/3" models, you could upgrade or change the sensors on the higher end models. I may have misinterpreted something so don't bash me or anything. I just want to get a Scarlet ASAP and the one I want is the FF35 model but that isn't due until later this year. If I could get the S35 model during the summer and upgrade for a small fee later, that'd be great and revolutionary, but I don't know if that's the case or not.

I believe the concept with the DSMC system is:
To upgrade the sensor, you buy a new Brain.

It has been said that the brains will not be sensor upgradeable. Each brain is optimized for the sensor in it. You want the FF you need the FF guts.

It's possible that they'll implement some type of trade-in trade-up program, but I find that unlikely. You'd bee just as well off to sell the S35 and just upgrade to the new FF brain.

The Scarlet S35 -> FF35 release gap is going to be the most testing financial responsibility exercise I've ever endured. I wish there was a way to upgrade even if it cost $1k. Sitting on that much money for 6 months is going to be agonizing. :D
