  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

May Update... The month of Raven

This is complete BS. I went from the Black Magic Ursa Mini to Sony FS5 to Raven and in hopes to have a camera sooner, I switched to Scarlet W. For 5 months I stayed very quiet, reading everyone's allocation posts hoping the Scarlet W would arrived in May based on what My rep said. There are Scarlet W guys with order dates of October that haven't received their cameras yet, I feel REALLY bad for those guys. At what point do I BELIEVE what RED tells us?

At the end of the day, BMD, Sony and Red all seem very similar. :mad5::emote_headwall::emote_headwall::emote_headwall::emote_headwall::emote_headwall::emote_headwall:
 
This has made my month, haha. I was getting really worried about the lack of Ravens being allocated in the weeks leading up to and including NAB so this is absolutely good news to hear. Like many others I have work scheduled that I am hoping to use my Raven on, so fingers crossed. :-)
 
So happy about all the guys who ordered Ravens and had to wait so long (including me), so this is great news. Sad for Scarlet switchers but hang in there and keep in mind we Raven guys have been bleeding for a long time. :)
 
So does this mean that June will be the month of the Scarlet-W? As a potential first time RED owner and waiting on my Scarlet-W this doesn't bode well for a late summer or fall 2016 delivery. I wasn't expecting my camera before July or August at the earliest anyway due to my time stamp, however this makes me think I won't receive till October or November 2016 at the earliest.
 
Lol I guess I screwed myself. Ordered 2 ravens on second day. Didn't switch over to S-W til around NAB so I guess I do go back to the end of the line. What do you think - I should just ask for my $1000 back and wait til these are shipping off the line? I could use that $1000 now (been sitting in an account doing nothing now for about 7 months.)

yeah some S-W guys are going to be upset, but hopefully they feel for all the fellow filmmakers that ordered their ravens way back on sept 25th, stuck to their guns and have been waiting patiently(not me) for their Ravens, most of these people are first time RED owners and i hope everyone feels the joy in their excitement.
i am picking up my Raven today at the Red Store LA and i feel like im going to an adoption agency that finally found me the perfect baby, haha!

switch back to raven today, for at least one of the bodies :)
 
So literally the only Scarlet-W's that appear to have been allocated/shipped by RED are the orders from people who switched from RAVEN. And now, before they even get to allocating any December 10th Scarlet-W preorders, they are shutting it down to re-focus on RAVEN.

Gotcha.

More good news for the RAVEN crowd, I guess.
 
Brand new RED user! Ordered a Base I/O Raven two weeks back and I hope to get it by my birthday! Now that would be sweet. Thanks for the update Jarred, keep it up!

more? this is the first good news for raven since the announcement of raven, in fact raven wasnt barely even mentioned in any prior updates.
remember raven pkgs were supposed to ship in march and it's now may, scarlets are everywhere already!
plus, very good news that if you need one desperately they even set up a loaner program! amazing!
 
The only scarlet-w's that are in the wild are ones that were shipped to Raven switchers who were allowed to jump the line. Nobody who actually just ordered a Scarlet-W has yet received one. Scarlet-W packages were also supposed to ship in March and now we are being told it won't start until potentially June.
 
Given that they've been shipping Scarlet-W since February, their full-tilt production must be painfully slow for them to not even have made a dent in preorders, or so it seems.

This implies that even early December preorders won't be fulfilled this summer.

Though this is reminiscent of being a black magic customer, black magic would have just remained silent, and would also not offer up loaners... At least loaners are some consolation. I might need to use one.

Wrong...there is people that has got their Scarlet W not switching from Raven...
 
People who ordered from dealers have received them, but nobody who directly ordered with a December 10th timestamp has come forward that I have seen. Since RED doesn't release what timestamp they are working on, I can't see how you would know otherwise unless you've seen a post that I haven't.

I understand that we shouldn't have planned shoots around a camera that is not in our hands, but when pre-order a camera with a February/March ship date from a great company like RED, you generally assume that you will receive a camera by early summer. Add to the the info you guys put out on this forum about pre-NAB notifications, and one assumes they will be taken care of (especially with my time stamp from 10/27/15), however, I'm at the point where I have no idea when I will receive the camera, because who is to say how things will change yet again at the end of this month. I would love to take you up on the loaner camera but at this point it really feels like a shot in the Dark. Please help guys.
