Honestly, it's all about the service! When something goes wrong (not if, but when) a company like Maxx Digital is worth every penny! They have tons of experience and can get you up and running again very quickly, where one could struggle for days or even a week on their own. Been there, done that, never again!

It's the same argument a producer might use "why should I hire an operator or DP, when I can buy the camera and do it myself? How hard can it be? " Lots more to it than that. Same applies in this arena too! This business is all about your relationships, especially when things are crashing. One needs to build a network of people they can trust to get through the difficult times.

I just bought a RAID system from Maxx, and they've been beyond incredible to deal with! They've been very informative, answered my every question and took as much time with me as I needed. I feel very secure in my purchase and would highly recommend Brett, Tyler, Ron and Maxx Digital. You won't regret it.

Risk vs savings

Risk vs savings

If the MAXX product that fits your needs is way more expensive than a similar product from another vendor, then it might be worth the risk. The reality is that the premium - especially with these sale prices - is easily justified by their build quality, component selection and customer service.
I'd add that having a RAID go down on you can be a HUGE PITA, easily costing you far more than what you saved up front and possibly spiking a good client. It's also worth noting that MAXX Digital has gone from a fairly small operation to a much larger company because they've proved themselves in real world production environments - not just in properly cooled rack mounts in machine rooms. YMMV.

Cheers - #19

You have a very good point there! When something eventually happens to your raid, and something will because drives are only designed to last so long, if you're in the middle of a project your clients don't want to wait! So it's imperative that you repair the problem and keep moving forward with the project that you're working on.

I knew I had several options when it came to designing my RAID system. Maxx Digital was extremely helpful in designing that and helped me pick the right system. They are far more experienced than I was, as they've dealt with far more customers that I have in terms of storage and were able to share that knowledge with me.

Murphy's Law always seems to kick in the hardest at the worst time and in the middle of a project with a client in the room! Therefore I wanted the most fail-proof system. And the system that have the fastest turnaround should something happen with a client in the room an important project on the table. For me that extra money was security! In a way it's the cheapest Insurance you can buy. Let's face it in this business you truly get what you pay for. That's true with cameras, lenses, lights support gear you name it! The good stuff isn't cheap..

Which one should I go for MAX or DATOptic and why?

Cuong,

As other have already said, you have to make a choice when it comes to who you trust with your data. Sure some other systems are cheaper but will the support be available when something happens. Our products are priced in the "premium" category but come with premium service & support.

Thanks Aaron for catching that. Fixed. I'm surprised I didn't catch it nor did anyone during the approval process. Opps.

Shameless mid month bump. 12 days left to take advantage of these deals. We're also working on a G-tech sale since many of you guys have requested one.

So I did a research on DATOptic Inc, their DUNS date back 2001 - so it's a old company, and most of the review is fantastic on their service and product. I would not trust their testimonial post, but in AMAZON their customers speak highly about their product and support
https://www.amazon.com/Thunderbolt-...00FM4JVO0/keywords=T12-S6.TB2#customerReviews

I bought a driver-less chassis from DATOptic, and HDD from other vendor since it's cheaper, One of those 16 drives failed and a replacement came on Saturday mail. Sunday morning I called - without expect anyone pick up the phone - so i can leave a msg to their support dept.

Holly cow! a tech answer the phone and walk me through the proecess of create a hot spare and my thunderbolt is start rebuild within 10min of the call

For a five stars rating, I would rate them @ 8 stars - Yes 8 * , this is an unheard of service

Forgot to mention I got 15% discounted with SAV15 code
