Hi guys,
I'm trying to put together a portable yet affordable way to transcode and view Epic files (1/2 res) on location (MBP 2.3 4GB 2011 ver.). Wondering if some of you, with much more knowledge then me, could shed some light as to the pros and cons of Max Digital package and putting together a T-bolt based Sonnet solution.

Thanks for all your help.

I love my MAXX Digital Mobile Rocket Express 34 enclosure. Works well with my 17" MBP. MAXX won't be offering a thunderbolt option anytime soon as Ron (CEO of MD) said that he didn't want to invest time/effort/resources into something that he isn't sure is going to stick around.

Sonnet, MLogic, etc are just a few thunderbolt solutions that you can use. People have had success with them. Once you start daisy-chaining TB devices though, the bandwidth available for each device gets smaller because it's using the same TB port.

As long as you're only running the RR and one drive/raid connection on the thunderbolt lane with a Sonnet/Magma/MLogic thunderbolt pci-e case, the red rocket will run near its maximum performance on a 2011 MBP 17" or 15" or a new MBPR 15". At worst you're running multiple bi-directional x4 pci-e lanes over thunderbolt (aprox. 1000+ MB/s both directions) vs x1 pci-e aggregate lane over express 34 (aprox. 250 MB/s) with the MAXX mobile rocket.

Shiblon,
So the Sonnet (T-bolt) would be quite a bit more efficient then the Max Digital (express 34)?
