Thanks Trevor. It looks like you are skipping the use of a doughnut / bellows. How are you preventing light entering in the back?
Clamp-on. Very light tight, and the VIV is so light it won't hurt the lens or the mount.

Strummer = Swing away version but no clamp on?
VIV = Non Swing? With Clamp on?
is it me or the angle, but the MB looks like it bends downward.

I think I figured it out. I've been using the bellows on the O-Box and it puts me back quite a bit from the 4x5.65 filter trays.
In the video Matt linked, Curt goes over this same issue with the BT VIV at 24mm.
So do I really need to use a bellows to keep light out? How do I get closer to the filters without letting light in the back end, or with filters in, prevent light from penetrating into the back end, bouncing off the filter, then into the lens, killing my shot?
Check out the Bright Tangerine VIV matte box. I have the Strummer (swing away model) and love it.

The VIV is the equivalent to the oBox. Vlad Eugene who 2 years ago sold me on the oBox, sold his and bought the VIV. I then bought the Strummer and am more than happy with it.
Will,
the bent: Could've been the angle of the camera shooting... could've been that I didn't have it on straight... I'll admit... I had 90 minutes to set up, light, shoot, copy the media, edit, and tear down the gear for this shoot. I did it in a hurry. I'd like to re-shoot and add a ton of info that I've learned since... I had a job in the afternoon, and I wanted to help folks out before CineGear, so this went very quickly...
I think VIV's video, and the other two I've shot, but not finished cutting for Blacklight and Misfit are MUCH better than this initial effort... I had NO IDEA it would garner this much attention...
The rubber bellows, like shown in my review, force the mattebox forward a bit, about 3/8" - 1/2" and therefore "creates" the vignetting....
Matt,
Vlad bought a VIV? Must have gotten it from "the other guys!" (Damn.... did me like that! Love Vlad! His Leica's are sick!)
Why would you ever use a rubber bellows?
Is there a 138mm Polarizer option with BT or you use one of three filter trays?
Matt, have you used the O-Box? Wondering what your thoughts are on the unit vs the BT gear.
the rubber bellows houses a 138mm round filter. Not sure if Curt's review covered it but it does.
I used Vlad's Obox a year or so ago but he now owns a Viv. It's a solid matte box but I prefer the added features of the Bright Tangerine line. The flexibility to add or remove stages, hardware on the flags to reduce weight when not needed, the wide focal view, clip on or 15/19mm option, the build quality, and the soon to come swing away option for the Viv so it will be an even more versatile matte box. Not to mention the handy 2nd and 3rd stages able to rotate 360 degrees. Not even to mention the companies customer service! I recommend BT to everyone who asks me cause they are a company I truly believe in.
His review doesn't... yet
That's what I was thinking, thanks Matt.
You have a strummer or VIV? Not sure if you have both or doing a switch.
You pretty much sold me on it to tell you the truth Matt and several others from the looks of it.
How much is a VIV? I'd like to get an idea of the value without the middleman markup. The swing away option on a VIV is the way to go. Who did you buy yours from, customer services of BT is excellent?
My Internet is on after four days....hold this spot for me thx.
Any first hand reports on Mov Cam clip on?
The bright tangerine looks fantastic. Nr 1 on my list currently. Ketch what accesories have you ordered for it. I have some trouble figuring out what package I should actually buy for it. Also hard to find places to purchase it in Eurpe.
