Mattebox Question

Hi guys,

I am planing to buy the cavision mattebox, so there are two universal ones. Which one to buy?

MB6X6-3 (105mm Spaced)

which one is the best for red based on ur experience? and is there any other universal system for the same vudget?

I don't know why Cavision has produced two different versions. I guess it's to fit different versions of their other mounting hardware? Seems quite strange to me. I can't recommend one over the other just because I don't know what is going on here... The "universal" one seems to be the one you would want. I just don't get why they would have two versions that differ in spacing by 1mm???

I think the "MB6X6-3" is universal, BUT! I am not sure either. Maybe call them. I would strongly recommend going with the Arri standard! Good luck!

The standards are 100mm spacing for 15mm (Studio), 60mm spacing for 15mm (lightweight), and 104mm spacing for 19mm (Studio).

With that said, the second link seems to be correct. I've seen that 6x6 but have not used it or tested it in the field. I find Cavision quality to be similar to Redrock or Petroff but not comparable to Chrosziel or Arri.

Why do you want a 6x6? Consider the Redrock 5.65x5.65 box for being on a budget.
