Do you guys have any tips for making displays that you connect to HDMI / SDI match what things look like Red displays? I've fiddled with all the various settings on the displays to no avail.

I think that a good place to start is to run the color bars from the RED and then go step by step through the SMPTE calibration process. However, that assumes that your display has contrast/brightness controls, as well as a blue-only mode.

Many, many displays don't calibrate well unfortunately. Even my SmallHD 702 isn't 100% accurate. And I get that it's tough to run your feed to a client monitor only to have them gripe about color... especially when you know you can and will make everything perfect in post. Calibrating via the bars is a good start.
