  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

hey @ll,

working on:

- macpro 10.6.4
- 2x 2.66ghz quad core
- 16GB ram
- no red rocket
- recine 262, redline installed, latest redcode..

had a shoot yesterday, red MX, build 30.5.0

trying to render offline files prores 422proxy 1024x576,
no "one light", just "straight through", redcolor/redgamma.

redcine fails on every 2nd clip, creates funny red fabric patterns in the frame, loops scenes and whatnot..

rebooted, reinstalled, used another machine, same problems..

clipfinder, although it doesnt support redcolor at the moment (mr. daun, i cant wait..) renders through it like a knife through butter.

so my files dont seem to be damaged.

any suggestions, workarounds, hints, scripts, hammers?

'd be very thankful, have to outsource the job cause of this.

are you sure you have deleted all the RCX internal library and preference files? a few old ones lingering around can conflict with new versions.

Delete
/Users/{username}/com.red.RedCineX.plist
/Users/{username}/Preferences/com.red.RedCineX.plist

Can you email the logs directory to redcinex at red.com please.

Deanan and Eirik:
I'll mail the log-directory asap and i will check what happens after deleting the .plists

i appreciate the effort because it's nothing less than a whole day of material
which is very sensitive.

So i'll get back to you as soon as i am sitting in front of it again.

Thanks in advance.

i had a closer look (in the upper left)...

what do you think about this?
(and what do you think about the left shades of R, G and B?

(notice: the left part of the image was fine, it's intentionally blacked out.)

It's data corruption. Almost 99% of the time it turns out to be a bad file copy due to firewire cable or bad cf reader. It might be a corrupt filesystem, in which case running redundead on the original media might help (if you still have it).

seems like everyone has got used to this "version".

the card reader was and is perfectly fine, the cables and HDDs too.

if you ask me i can clearly see a bayer pattern in this so called corrupt data.
so the possibility that it might have something to do with the camera, especially at high data rates (RC36 @*4K 16:9 with audio on 16GB CF-cards) might cause the CF cards not to capture all the data properly should be considered.

i ran REDundead (on copied matierial) it just turned readable data in to not readable data.

You'd want to run RedUndead on the original media. Running it on the files themselves won't help.

Any NEWS whats going on Deanan ??? We are here in hell without a proper working RR......!!!!!!!!!!

This thread is about file corruption. Nothing to do with Rocket.
We'll have new rocket drivers coming soon to deal with varying pci-e implementations in systems.
