  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

MARK... Meet your new roommate...

Just as a reference... there are "triple-dozens" of complex machined parts inside every brain, not including the sides, top, bottom or covers. Just start by thinking about the 5 axis adjustable sensor mount.

We appreciate everyone's guessing what's inside a brain, but trust me when I tell you that you have no reference point for comparison.

Jim

I find it sweet that Jim actually defends his position here.

For me its easy: if it was easy to put out cameras by the dozens right now, Jim would to it. It is not, so Jim does not. End of story, basically.
Jim, I'd rather hear more details about your experience with the Fixed Scarlet!

but trust me when I tell you that you have no reference point for comparison.

Maybe we can't imagine only because you did something that shouldn't exist :cornut:

EPIC- Physical manifestation of philosophical "black box"?

I still find it highly confusing,
how many seem to know,
what is good for RED and how they should run their business ...

Time to wake up.

Creating simplicity is never easy in the process.

If there would be less noise posted,
maybe we could have better discussion on the topics at hand
and improve our knowledge, procedures and practices ...

Anyone with me?

I vote for a new forum software, one that allows to filter a thread by contributors and displays only according to the preferences ... :sifone:

Forum Software seems to be one of the unsolved things ... in 2011 ...

LOL
Great one....

How many redvolt-bricks are needed to get the 1.21 gigawatts?

I agree.

The fact that these forums are closer to "chat rooms" than traditional forums, is the sole reason that I have so few posts since I joined.

I'm very interested in RED and their technology, so I come here often to check it, but I find it very hard to extract information (what I would normally do in a forum).

As soon as Jim or someone else posts something substantial, 15 minutes later there are 45 pages of "way to go!" comments or other general cheering. Like I say: much like chatting.

I do understand the excitement, and perhaps need for many, when such a unique possibility to bond with the core people behind RED is provided. But I do wish it could be managed in a "lounge thread" or something similar.

Many of you seem to be good friends. Not strange after so much time "talking". I definitely don't want to take that away from people, but I'm wondering if that part could be managed differently?

I hope I don't step on too many toes with this post—it's certainly not my intention.

I feel it's constructive feedback: too much "noise" and/or too many irrelevant posts get in the way of me finding information that I would much like to find.

I have started to post more lately. I will continue to do so when I have something to contribute. But that we are all happy about any progress that RED makes goes without saying—for my part.

Take care,

A

The Flux Capacitor will be a module for the Epic and will allow you recording of a different time.

Who leaked this?

+1, is that a contradiction?

Reduser is the infrormational resource for all things RED, and a conduit for communications with the leaders of RED. Just as importantly though, it is a living community of users and enthusiasts. Chatter is inevitable in a social space.

Crucial Ordinance was created for those who want "just the facts". Perhaps a REDUuser digest could be created that contains the info in C.O. along with distilled wisdom from posts in the various threads.

Talking about finding things on this forum.
I have noticed that search is not accepting AND or OR operands.
Also search doesn't accept quoted literals like “something”

Does anybody know if there is a way to search with operands on this forum?

So the surprise is out, now Jim has to come up with a new one. This is really going to be hard to beat. Was it included with #00007 for Mark?

Hi Detlev

To which posts do you refer?

Hi Ian,

It's quite possible that I haven't fully come to understand the structure of these forums.

Just yesterday I did see the crucial ordinance thread, but I didn't go through it (I will do it now, though). I think the reason for that was that I have been through a couple of "stickies" that I felt weren't up to date.

Stickies are normally great, but they are rarely the place where you find the most current information. I also think that's the reason why most other forums I frequent try to keep the normal threads as clean from "off topic" as possible, and then provide a strictly social part of the forum.

I agree that chatter is inevitable in such as social place as you describe, and it is most likely a good thing, but I would argue that where that chatter takes place is a question of structure.

Nonetheless... heading over to Crucial Ordinance now
